One or more processors generate a plurality of artifacts from a first application pattern description. The first application pattern description describes at least one instance of a first application pattern. One or more processors receive a request for a capability of an instance of the first application pattern. The capability is requested to augment a second application pattern instance. One or more processors analyze a second application pattern description. The second application pattern description describes the second application pattern instance. Based on an analysis of the second application pattern description, one or more processors install one or more of the plurality of artifacts against at least one server of the second application pattern instance. One or more processors execute one or more automated operations in order to enable the second application pattern instance with the capability.

Service-based integration of application patterns

A mechanism is provided for an automatic management of configuration parameters of computing resources between related computing systems. Services instances of computing systems are generated according to associated configuration parameter sets and respective corresponding configuration parameter values. A determination is made of configuration parameter value changes in the configuration parameter sets for each generated service instance of the computing systems. The configuration parameter value changes for each generated service instance are compared with a first subset configuration parameter values and with a second subset configuration parameter values. The determined configuration parameter value changes in one service instance are then propagated to another service instance according to a definition of rules for mapping configuration parameters and their values between second subsets of configuration parameters.

Automatic management of configuration parameters and parameter management engine

In one embodiment, a computer program product includes a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therewith, the computer readable program code being configured to: map a template-level configuration-management data structure to a discovery-level configuration-management data structure by a first mapping using mapping information included in the template-level configuration-management data structure, map a customized-level configuration-management data structure to the discovery-level configuration-management data structure by a second mapping using mapping information included in the customized-level configuration-management data structure, and determine a third mapping between the template-level configuration-management data structure and the customized-level configuration-management data structure using the first mapping and the second mapping.

Management of configuration data structures in multi-layer data models

The present invention provides a new management system and a new method for managing distributed resources (-), comprising a workflow engine () that can execute management workflows in order to actively control the distributed resources (-). The new management system is characterized in that autonomic Correlation Services (-) are introduced that manage different functional parts of the managed system in cooperation with workflow engine (), whereby each Correlation Service (-) employs a Correlation Engine () and a set of rules () that describe how underlying resources (-) shall be managed, whereby a controller () communicates with the Correlation Services (-).

Managing distributed resources in a computer system

A method and system for automatically cloning IT resource structure in stateful web services environments by employing a new approach for configuration management. The present new approach models the configurational state of each resource as a stateful web service. Configuration data are provided by this service's resource properties. Relationships between configurations of different resources are modeled as 'stateful web services relationships' between web service instances. These relationships can be navigated, which allows exploring the configuration of a whole system in a standards-based way. Additionally a new web service interface is provided by the stateful web service encapsulating the resource. This interface provides two new operations: 'getConfiguration' allows an exploiter to take a snapshot of a resource's and related resources' configurational state and &#x201c;setConfiguration&#x201d; allows for setting the configurational state of a resource to a previously saved state. An invocation of &#x201c;getConfiguration&#x201d; results in the creation of a new stateful web service instance that stores the configurational state of each resource. This new web service interface is implemented on a per-resource type basis. Any back-end technology may be used to implement this new web service interface.
