The invention relates to a chipper chain () for a motor-driven chain saw () as well as a chain saw having such a chipper chain (). The chipper chain () includes drive links (), connecting links (), and cutting links (). The drive links () each have a drive projection (). The cutting links () each have an upper cutting blade () and a depth limiter () which leads the upper cutting blade (). The chipper chain () has a maximum width (A) which is defined by the upper cutting blades (), a maximum height (C) which is measured perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis and extends from the drive projection () to the upper cutting blade (), and an average divide (T) predetermined by the average distance of adjacent pivot pins (). The product of the maximum width (A), the maximum height (C), and the average divide (T) is &#x2264;450 mm. The driving power of the motor-driven chain saw () is &#x2264;1.0 kW.

A guide bar for a saw chain includes an elongate, flat base body made of a basic material. The base body extends along a longitudinal center axis and, in order to guide a saw chain, has a running surface formed on an outer periphery thereof and a guide groove formed in the outer periphery of the base body. The guide groove has a groove base. A direction-reversing section for the saw chain is provided at one end of the base body. The direction-reversing section includes at least one add-on component having a running surface made of more wear-resistant material than the basic material of the base body. The add-on component is secured to the base body of the guide bar by at least one weld seam. The weld seam extends between the add-on component and the base body and is located spatially beneath the groove base.

A chain for a work implement has lateral connecting members connected to central driving members via studs. The stud has two lateral portions spaced apart from one another by a collar. A driving member is mounted pivotably on the collar. At the collar the stud has a surface layer harder than the base material. For a high chain service life, the stud has a diffusion layer above a surface layer above the base material. To produce the stud, the stud is provided with a diffusion layer at least at the collar, and a surface region of the collar is hardened, such that a surface layer is formed between the diffusion layer and the base material of the stud. For a method for producing a driving member, the driving member is provided with a diffusion layer at least at a circumferential surface of a hole and the driving member is hardened.

A cutting chain for a hand-operated implement for cutting metal and mineral materials such as a stone cutter has central connecting links which are connected to one another by lateral connecting links. The central connecting links comprise first central connecting links which each have a drive tooth. The cutting chain has two central connecting links with drive teeth shaped differently to the drive teeth on the first central connecting links; or located a different distance from the leading drive teeth; or having no drive teeth. A hand-operated implement for cutting mineral materials has a drive motor which drives the cutting chain around a guide bar by a drive sprocket. The cutting chain is guided round part of the circumference of the drive sprocket and round a nose sprocket on the guide bar. The drive sprocket or nose sprocket have different first and second areas matched to the cutting chain.

The invention is directed to a saw chain for a motor-driven chain saw comprising center drive links and lateral connecting links which are pivotally connected to each other via rivets lying transversely to the longitudinal direction of the chain. Individual connecting links are configured as cutting links and have a cutting tooth with a roof bent over toward the chain center. The roof has a leading edge and a trailing edge which lie each transverse to the longitudinal direction of the chain. The leading edge is configured as a roof cutting edge and lies higher than the trailing edge which lies at a spacing above a depression. The depression is formed in the region between the rivet holes in the adjacent upper edge of the drive link and delimits a chip channel. The recess is formed asymmetrically on a drive link with respect to the center perpendicular of an imaginary connecting line between the center points of the rivet holes. In this way, a blockage-free removal of chips is ensured and a high cutting power is provided.

The cutting member for a saw chain of a motor chainsaw has a base body with a rear portion and a leading portion in a cutting direction of the cutting member. The rear portion and the leading portion extend in the center plane. The base body has rivet openings. The cutting tooth is formed at the rear portion and the depth limiter is formed at the leading portion. The leading portion has a support stay formed by bending at a bending line an upper end portion of the leading portion in a direction out of the center plane. The free end of the upper end portion is bent in a second direction opposite the first direction back across the base body to form an overhang. The overhang has a forwardly and downwardly slanted surface facing away from the base body. The overhang has a length in the cutting direction that is smaller than the width of the support stay. The support stay has a stay edge facing the cutting tooth. The overhang edge has a greater spacing to the cutting tooth than the stay edge. The stay edge positioned higher than the overhang edge.

A guide bar for a saw chain has a sort-shaped base member made of solid material, having a front end with a deflection area for a saw chain and a rear end for connecting the guide bar drive unit. The base member has outer lateral surface extending from the front end to the rear end and a longitudinal central axis extending from the front end to the rear end. The base member has a main body and a separate front member welded to the main body so as to have a welding seam on at least one of the lateral surfaces. The base member has an edge with a continues circumferential groove for receiving and guiding the saw chain.

The invention relates to a guide bar (9) for a saw chain (10) having a sword-shaped base body (16). A peripheral guide groove (11) is introduced into the periphery (17) of the base body (16). an oil-feed channel (22) is provided which opens into the guide groove (11) in the region of the groove bottom (23) and is fed from a transverse channel (21) lying below the groove bottom (23). The inlet opening (20) of the transverse channel (21) is at an outer side (9.1, 9.2) of the base body (16). The position, shape and size of the oil-feed channel (22) as well as the transverse channel (21) can be freely configured. This is achieved by arranging the transverse channel (21) in an insert part (25) separate from the base body (16). The insert part has the oil-feed channel (22). The insert part (25) is mounted in an open cutout (24) of the base body (16). The cutout (24) is open to an outer side (9.1, 9.2) of the base body (16) and extends substantially below the groove bottom (23).

A saw chain for motor-driven chain saws includes a cutting link which has three mutually adjacent supporting surfaces defining a U-shaped cutout for accommodating a hard metal insert in the form of a cutting plate therein. The support of the insert is provided at only subportions of these supporting surfaces and the remaining subportions provided an adequate spacing so that a solder gap is formed. The hard metal insert placed in this cutout has an adequate service time and does not require special equipment to hold the same during automatic soldering thereof into the cutting link.
