A printing press and a method for controlling a printing press include rotatably mounted cylinders. At least two adjacent cylinders roll on one another through bearer rings. At least one of the adjacent cylinders can be rotated actively relative to at least one of the bearer rings by a setting device.

A method and device for electrically braking an electric drive in a machine for processing printing material, includes a power electronics connected between the electric drive and a DC voltage intermediate circuit. A further electric braking device is switchable between the electric drive and the power electronics. Upon a failure of a power system, a computer initiates a generator-type braking operation through the power electronics. The further electric braking device is switched on upon the failure of the power electronics.

An apparatus for feeding sheets in sheet-processing machines includes a transport belt which transports sheets from a first location to a second location. The transport belt can be driven at variable speed by a drive. The speed of the transport belt can be controlled by a control device in such a way that, through the use of a combination of at least two speed profiles, the number of sheets on the transport belt and the transfer of the sheets at the first and second locations can be adjusted. A process provides for the safe operation of a printing machine. The printing machine has a first cylinder driven by a first motor, and a second cylinder driven by a second motor. The first cylinder accepts sheets of paper from the second cylinder or delivers them to the second cylinder by a gripper system. In the case of a deviation in the synchronized running between the cylinders, the gripper system is retracted at least in part far enough into the first cylinder that the possibility of a collision of the gripper system with the second cylinder is eliminated.
