Apparatus for damping vibration in a motor vehicle includes a vibration damper module having a hollow-cylindrical housing, which has opposite ends closed by force-transmitting end closures, and a control unit for detecting interfering vibration and generating a control signal in response to the detection of the interfering vibration. An actuator assembly is secured to an inside wall surface of the housing and rendered operative in response to the generation of the control signal for causing the vibration damper module to introduce into the motor vehicle a counter vibration to suppress the interfering vibration. The actuator assembly includes at least three actuators distributed in the housing in spaced-apart relationship on a pitch circle and having a length extension which is aligned in parallel relationship to a length extension of the housing.

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes upper steering-column portion, a lower steering-column portion, and a damping body for coupling the upper and lower steering-column portions, with piezoelectric elements being integrated in the damping body. These piezoelectric elements are part of an active system for vibration damping and are provided for compensating vibrations in length direction of the steering column and torsional vibrations in rotational direction of the steering wheel. The active system further includes piezoelectric elements in an attachment zone between the A-pillars and the support beam for compensating vibrations in length direction of the support beam and perpendicular thereto. Thus, the active system for vibration damping thus provides a vibration control in all three directions in space as well as control of torsional vibration.

A dashboard support for a motor vehicle includes a support beam extending between A pillars of a vehicle body. Interacting with the support beam is an active arrangement for implementing a vibration damping. The active arrangement includes a gyroscopic oscillator unit which is arranged in an attachment zone of the steering column to the support beam and has an electric motor provided with at least one eccentric mass and constructed for spatial positioning within the gyroscopic oscillator.

A convertible includes a folding top having side beams, which are articulated to one another, and a roof structure, which is connected to the side beams and made at least partially of high-strength hot-formed steel material. Hereby the roof structure may include a roof member which is made of high strength hot formed steel material, or the roof structure may include a roof member and a reinforcement member which is made of high strength hot formed steel material and extends between the side beams, for support of the roof member.

A dashboard support for a motor vehicle includes a support beam extending between windshield pillars of a motor vehicle body; and an active arrangement for implementing a vibration damping. The active arrangement includes a single-mass oscillator which is arranged on the support beam in an attachment area of a steering column and has a housing in which a mass body is spatially movable and resiliently suspended. The mass body can be caused to vibrate by actuators in the form of piezo elements.

A safety arrangement for a motor vehicle, includes at least one airbag disposed in a roof frame of a vehicle body. A pressure gas source, positioned remote to the airbag, is fluidly connected with the airbag by a connection line for supply of a pressure gas to the airbag and inflation thereof. The connection line is formed by a hollow space of the roof frame or the roof frame itself, whereby the roof frame and/or the hollow space is formed by metal sheets connected to one another in a fluid-tight manner by an adhesive joint.

Safety arrangement for motor vehicles

A method and an apparatus are described for the simultaneous adjustment of an air intake stream of an internal combustion engine and of a secondary air stream into the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine, the secondary air stream being produced by a compressor which is driven by a turbine . The turbine is housed in a bypass duct , the bypass duct being arranged parallel to a throttle valve in the air intake tract of the internal combustion engine. Thus the required amount of secondary air is dependent upon the throttle valve setting. To create compensation for this, a control valve , for example, is created, which is connected through a connecting duct to the secondary air duct . The control valve affects the cross section of the bypass line , so that in the event of an opening of the throttle valve the cross section of the bypass duct can be expanded simultaneously, so that the pressure drop at the turbine, produced by throttle valve opening can be compensate. Alternatively the arrangement of a control valve is possible, which is operated by a control unit. Moreover, a mechanical coupling of the throttle means in the bypass line and the throttle valve is possible. The proposed method achieves the simultaneous adjustment of air intake flow and secondary air flow with reasonable design expense and therefore constitutes an economical solution.

A safety arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an airbag disposed in an area of a roof frame of a vehicle body which includes an &ldquo;A&rdquo; pillar, a &ldquo;B&rdquo; pillar, and a &ldquo;C/D&rdquo; pillar. A connecting tube is coupled to the airbag and extends in the area of the roof frame from the &ldquo;A&rdquo; pillar to the &ldquo;C/D&rdquo; pillar to conduct pressure gas from a pressure gas source to the airbag. The connecting tube is so configured as to provide stiffening for increasing a lateral rigidity of the roof frame and is firmly secured at least to the &ldquo;A&rdquo; pillar and the &ldquo;C/D&rdquo; pillar.

A fluid inlet suitable for introducing a hot exhaust gas into the air intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas is conducted through an inlet pipe ( ) and a deflector ( ) into the intake pipe or tract ( ). A preferably tubular insert ( ) is disposed in the intake tract ( ). The insert has walls ( ) which are oriented in the direction of flow of the aspirated exhaust gas. The fluid inlet reduces the thermal stress on the walls of the intake tract ( ) to a minimum and makes high exhaust recovery or recirculation rates possible. A fluid feed duct, which may be used for feeding a stream of recirculated exhaust gas into a stream of intake air for an internal combustion engine. The feed duct includes a hollow structure ( ) into which a feed connection ( ) is introduced via a joint structure ( ). A ceramic pipe ( ) is used to prevent heat from the exhaust gas stream from being conducted to mounts in the hollow structure ( ) which represents the intake duct of the engine. Consequently, the intake duct can be manufactured of a thermoplastic synthetic resin material, since the risk of thermal overstressing is avoided. The feed connection also has a deflecting segment ( ) which is provided in its sides with outlet openings ( ). This enables the exhaust gas to be introduced in the direction of flow of the intake air, so that optimal mixing is assured and the hot exhaust gas stream is prevented from passing directly to the wall of the thermoplastic intake duct, thereby preventing the intake duct from being melted.
