A tire hoist system mounted beneath a vehicle body and supporting a spare tire for raising and lowering. The tire hoist system comprises a take-up reel rotatable about a reel axis; a flexible support member; and a tire support for a spare tire. The flexible support member is coupled to the take-up reel. A reduction gear system includes a plurality of meshed gears, including a reduction input gear. An input gear system has (a) an output gear coupled to the reduction input gear of the reduction gear system such that rotation of the output gear drives the reduction input gear, (b) a driving input gear meshed with the output gear, and (c) an input element fixed with the driving input gear and engageable by a drive tool. The output gear is rotated about an output axis parallel or coincident with the reel axis and the input element and the driving input gear is rotatable about an input axis oriented at an angle to the reel axis. The input gear system is an adapter input gear system comprising an input gear system housing, and is assembled separately from the reduction gear system and mounted by the input gear system housing being mounted to an exterior surface of the reduction gear system housing. A method for adapting a tire hoist system is also disclosed.

Tire hoist system

A pedal assembly actuates a rigid actuator of a functional system in a motor vehicle. The assembly comprises a mounting bracket having spaced apart support members defining a pedal receiving space. A pedal arm has a pedal pad and an actuator connector. A pair of retainer brackets are normally in a retaining position secured against front-rear movement. At least one pivot pin pivotally connects the proximal end of the pedal arm to the retainer brackets. A pyrotechnic actuator has an input for receiving an actuating signal and when triggered enables deformation of the retainer bracket to a releasing position wherein the retainer brackets permit the at least one pivot pin and the proximal end of the pedal arm to move rearwardly with respect to the mounting bracket. The pyrotechnic actuator may also be arranged with respect to a releasable connector to drive it for disconnection from the retainer brackets to permit the retainer brackets, the at least one pivot pin and the proximal end of the pedal arm to move rearwardly.

A ventilating device for ventilating a vehicle includes a frame defining an opening and a closing device including at least one closing flap extending in a general direction in the opening. The closing device is movable between open and closed positions such that a passage surface for the air through the ventilating device is smaller than the passage surface for the air when the closing device is in the open position. The flap is movable between open and closed positions and is mounted pivotably on the frame in order to pivot between the open and closed positions. The closing device includes a guide system for guiding the flap, which is arranged between two ends of the flap and includes a guide slot and a pin moving in the guide slot between the open and closed positions.

Device for ventilating a vehicle

A tailgate system for a vehicle comprises a tailgate and a support system. The tailgate includes a movable tailgate portion movably connected to the tailgate and configured to cover an access opening in the tailgate. The support system is selectively operable between a connected state connected to both the tailgate and the movable tailgate portion and a disconnected state. The support system in the connected state is configured to support the movable tailgate portion in a step position pivoted downwardly from the tailgate in an open position thereof to provide a step. The support system in the disconnected state is configured to allow the movable tailgate portion to pivot downwardly from the tailgate in a closed position to the downwardly extending open position. The angle of pivotal movement of the movable tailgate portion relative to the tailgate is greater in the downwardly extending open position than in the step position.

A tailgate system for a vehicle comprises a tailgate pivotally mounted to a vehicle body for movement about a generally horizontal pivot axis between an open position and a closed position. The tailgate has an access opening configured to provide access to a vehicle bed area when the tailgate is in the closed position. The tailgate also has a movable tailgate portion movably connected to the tailgate. The movable tailgate portion is configured to cover the access opening in the tailgate when in a closed position of the movable tailgate portion. The tailgate also has a pocket opening for receiving the movable tailgate portion therein. The movable tailgate portion is slideably mounted to the tailgate for movement to an open position in which the movable tailgate portion is received in the pocket opening in the tailgate to uncover the access opening in the tailgate.

A parking brake emulator assembly for a vehicle is provided. The emulator assembly includes a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket includes a front spring mounting flange with a spring mounting hole. The emulator assembly further includes a brake lever, a spring guiding rod, a spring, and a rear spring holder. The brake lever is rotatable relative to the mounting bracket into a neutral position and a brake application position. The spring guiding rod is coupled to the brake lever via a pinned connection, and extends through the spring and the rear spring holder. Rotation of the brake lever from the neutral position to the brake application position moves the pinned connection to thereby move the spring guiding rod and the rear spring holder towards the front spring mounting flange, thereby compressing the spring.

In an embodiment of a shutter system of the present disclosure, the shutter system comprises a plurality of moveable louvers, at least one lifter, the lifter including a lifter arm having a plurality of platforms and a plurality of spurs extending therefrom, a plurality of tensioners, and a drive mechanism connected to the lifter arm and structured to reversibly move the lifter arm and the plurality of platforms extending therefrom, wherein the movement of the lifter arm and platforms causes each louver to rotate about a pin extending therefrom, the pin adjacent and offset from the post.

Active grille shutter

This disclosure relates to a hinge assembly for mounting a closure member or tailgate to a vehicle. It includes a hinge bracket and connector body for connection to one side of the tailgate. The connector body provides a fixed connection to the vehicle and enables the hinge bracket to rotate about a pivot axis, so that the tailgate rotates. Also included are a first torque rod having one end fixed to the connector body and an opposite, free end, and a second torque rod spaced from the first torque rod and pivot axis. The second torque rod has one end fixed to the hinge bracket and an opposite, free end. A connector device anchors the free ends of the torque rods together within the tailgate, so that the rods deflect when the tailgate is pivoted between its opened and closed positions to produce a biasing torque towards an opposite position.

A vehicle hood hinge assembly comprises a first hinge member; a second hinge member; a vehicle hood mount for connecting the vehicle hood member to the second hinge member, the vehicle hood mount being movably connected to the second hinge member for movement relative to the second hinge member between an operating position and an elevated position; a releasable lock for releasably locking the vehicle hood mount to the second hinge member in the operating position; a driving member movably connected to the first hinge member on the vehicle body; and an actuator for receiving an impact detection signal and, in response to the impact detection signal, configured to move the driving member so as to release the releasable lock and move vehicle hood mount from the operating position to the elevated position.

Pedestrian protection vehicle hood hinge assembly

A hinge assembly that includes a first hinge member and a second hinge member for mounting to an external vehicle closure member and a vehicle body, a pivot pin, a first clamp member with a first clamp surface, and a second clamp member having a second clamp surface is provided. The pivot pin is pivotally connected to the first hinge member to provide pivotal movement of an external vehicle closure member about a horizontal pivot axis between a closed position and an open position. The first and second clamp members are configured to clamp a mounting portion of the second hinge member between the first and the second clamp surfaces. The mounting portion of the second hinge member has an opening therethrough for receiving the pivot pin and is oversized relative to the pivot pin to accommodate relative radial adjusting movement during installation.

An assembly to pivotally connect an external vehicle closure panel to a vehicle body includes a first hinge member that is constructed to be mounted to one of the external vehicle closure panel and the vehicle body, a second hinge member that is constructed to be mounted to the other of the external vehicle closure panel and the vehicle body, a shaft that is constructed to pivotally connect the first hinge member to the second hinge member, and a viscous rotary damper. The damper includes a cover, a rotor, and a viscous material. The shaft connects to the rotor such that rotation of the external vehicle closure panel between a closing position and an opening position causes relative motion between the rotor and the cover of the viscous damper to provide a resistance for controlling the velocity of the external vehicle closure member.

Hinge with a viscous rotary damper

The present invention provides a hinge for connecting a panel to a body for movement between open and closed positions. The hinge comprises a first bracket constructed to be mounted to one of the body and the panel in an installed position of the hinge, and a second bracket constructed to be mounted to the other of the body and the panel in the installed position of the hinge. At least one hinge pin pivotally connects the first and second brackets. An engaging member is provided on the first bracket, and a check arm is movably connected to the second bracket. The check arm has an engaging surface with at least one detent. The engaging surface is engaged with the engaging member. A spring seat is pivotally mounted to the hinge pin, and a spring has one end engaging the spring seat and the other end engaging the check arm so as to bias the check arm into engagement with the engaging member. As the first and second brackets pivot relative to one another the engaging member and check arm move relative to one another with the spring biasing the check arm into engagement with the engaging member, and the spring seat pivots about the at least one hinge pin to accommodate a change in orientation between the check arm and the second bracket.
