A rotary variable differential transformer has coil windings at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the transformer and a core rotatable about this axis with end faces cut at projected angles therewith such that a rotation of the core varies the coupling between the primary and secondary windings. Amplitude and phase variations at the secondary windings are measurements of core rotation.

Rotary variable differential transformer

In a capacitive pressure transducer of the type having a flexible diaphragm, a 'dimple' like or concave surface is formed therein in order to provide an air gap between the flexible diaphragm and a relatively rigid plate. When pressure is applied to the diaphragm, the diaphragm deflects providing a measurable change in capacitance which varies as a function of the applied pressure.

Capacitive pressure transducer

In a flapper nozzle actuator system a radial outward flow turbine like flapper is used as the flapper. The angular velocity of the turboflapper is used to lift the turboflapper off a backplate towards a nozzle. The amount of lift off the backplate and hence nozzle outlet area is a function of the angular velocity of the turboflapper. An adjustable opposing torque on the turboflapper controls the angular velocity of the turboflapper and thus controls the flow rate.

Turboflapper nozzle systems

A traveling wave flow meter having a generally wave shaped member which is fabricated from a flexible material and which is disposed within a channel for conducting fluid. The flexible member undulates in response to a flow of fluid through the channel, and the frequency of the undulating flexible member is a function of the volumetric flow rate of the fluid.
