A display and finger print reader assembly for an electronic device includes a display having an arrangement of light emitting pixels, a light guide juxtaposed the arrangement of pixels of the display, and light sensors disposed at different locations around a periphery of the light guide. Light is sequentially emitted from the pixels to illuminate a user's finger that is placed against the display and finger print reader assembly. The emitted light that is reflected by the user's finger propagates in the light guide to one or more of the light sensors and indicates a fingerprint characteristic of a portion of the user's finger adjacent the pixel or pixels from which the light is emitted.

Methods for adjusting a picture of an object captured by a camera in a mobile radio communication terminal include defining a first camera angle relative to the object and capturing an image of the object by means of the camera from a second camera angle relative to the object. The second camera angle is offset from the first camera angle. The methods further include storing image data relating to the captured image, and generating an angularly adjusted image of the object in response to the image data and an angular relation between the first camera angle and the second camera angle. Corresponding mobile radio communication terminals are also disclosed. The terminals include an image processing system configured to process an image of an object captured by a camera from a second camera angle by generating an angularly adjusted image of the object in response to image data for the image, and in response to an angular relation between the second camera angle and a first camera angle.

A portable communication used in a mobile communications network has a transceiver device for providing a first wireless communication link to the mobile communications network. It also has visual indicator adapted to emit a first visible light signal, within a first predetermined spectral range, for indicating a status of the first wireless communication link. The transceiver device also provides a second wireless communication link to equipment other than the mobile communications network. The visual indicator emits a second visible signal for indicating a status of the second wireless communication link. This second visible light signal is provided in a second spectral range, which is different from the first spectral range.

A system and method for connecting two or more peripheral stations to a central station over a common service resource. Each station is connected to one or more switching units; the common service resource is adaptively shared as a function of traffic going to and from the switching units. In one embodiment, capacity in the common service resource is divided into a series of frames, each frame having a set number of time slices, with information form one or more of the switching units being transferred within a time slice. In one such embodiment, time slices which will not be used during a particular frame due to the lack of or repetitive nature of information from a particular switching unit can be used to transfer information from a different switching unit.
