For the production of embossed microstructures in radiation-curing materials, use is made of a micro embossing form fixed to a reflective or scattering cylinder surface. Via a press nip, the micro embossing form comes into contact with the substrate guided over a cylinder or a deflection roller. The radiation-curing material is acted on in one or both pockets, before or after the press nip, with radiation which penetrates into the press nip by reflection or scattering.

A method and a device for producing and transferring diffractive microstructures to a printing material include applying a fluid to an embossing cylinder and there, during the rotation of the embossing cylinder, solidifying the fluid to such an extent that the fluid is transferred to a printing material in the manner of a film with a solidified microstructure. The embossing cylinder has a cover which is preferably constructed to be either soft as a 'flexoshim' or hard as a 'nickel shim.' A web-fed or sheet-fed rotary printing press having the device is also provided.

A method of creating a fluid layer in the micrometer range includes transferring a fluid between substrates and forming a fluid layer. A surface energy of a first substrate releasing the fluid is higher than a surface energy of a fluid on the first substrate to create a first fluid deposit on the first substrate. A surface energy of a second substrate accepting the fluid is lower than a surface energy of a fluid on the second substrate to create a second fluid deposit on the second substrate that is reduced as compared to the first fluid deposit. A surface energy of a third substrate accepting the fluid is higher than a surface energy of a fluid on the third substrate to create a substantially homogeneous third fluid deposit on the third substrate that forms the fluid layer.

An apparatus for film transfer includes at least one printing press and at least one transfer film supply roller, a transfer film guiding device for guiding the transfer film web from the transfer film supply roller to a transfer nip. In order to ensure a variable film transfer in different printing units of the printing press, up to now the transfer film supply roller is moved with a film module into the region of the desired printing unit. In order to make a variable film transfer possible without complicated moving, the guiding device has web guiding elements at least in the region of the at least one printing press and the web guiding elements are enabled to selectively guide the transfer film web to different positions on the at least one printing press, such as to possible potential transfer nips.

A printing machine contains a transfer unit for transferring a transfer layer onto a print carrier in a transfer nip. The printing machine further has at least one applicator unit for applying an adhesive to the print carrier. The applicator unit precedes the transfer unit, and the transfer layer is detached from the carrier film in the transfer unit in the regions in which adhesive is applied. By printing units being converted into transfer units or applicator units, the functionality of the printing unit for a printing operation is lost. If the applicator device and the transfer device are located in this order on an impression cylinder of a printing unit, the applied adhesive is not predried sufficiently. To overcome these disadvantages, the transfer unit is a further processing unit and has at least one further processing device which follows the transfer nip and which acts on the print carrier.

A sheet-fed offset printing press prints multiple colors on both sides of sheets, preferably on sheets of paper. A first row of in-line printing units print a first side of the sheet, before the sheets are turned in a reversing device, which is followed by a second row of in-line printing units for printing the other side of the sheets. The second row of in-line printing units is followed by one or more varnishing units that are arranged in such a way or include varnishing blanket cylinders that are arranged in such a way that the front sides and the back sides of the passing sheets are varnished.

A method for applying an anti-corrosion protective layer to the surface of a cylinder for the printing unit of a printing press, the surface having been cleaned and microroughened, includes uniformly applying to the cylinder surface a thermally cross-linkable plastic material dissolved in a solvent, drying and, respectively curing and cross-linking the plastic material layer at an elevated temperature, and then mounting the cylinder in the printing unit without further processing the surface form; and a printing unit cylinder having a surface to which the anti-corrosion layer has been applied.

The invention relates to a printing form for a rotary relief-printing method, in which the printing dots transferring the printing ink constitute a half-tone screen and are superimposed by a relief structure constituted by indentations. Such printing forms are used, for example in flexographic printing methods for printing glass plates, for example display screens having a luminescent material coating. In the manufacture of these screens, the printing ink must be applied homogeneously and the ink dots appearing in the printed image must have a uniform border area. According to the invention, the printing form is to this end implemented in such a way that the relief structures are arranged homogeneously relative to the printing dots and, if the printing dots are periodically spread across the printing form, these relief structures are superimposed on the printing dots preferably with the same period. Moreover, the relief structures are arranged in such a way that the indentations do not intersect the border area of a printing dot.
