A filter system () having a housing (), a fluid inlet () formed in a housing wall (), a fluid outlet () formed in a housing wall (), a primary filter element () and a secondary filter element (). The secondary filter element () is arranged on a stand pipe () rigidly connected to one of the housing walls (). A secondary element with a first open end and a second end positioned opposite the first end has a filter medium arranged about a longitudinal axis of the secondary element and extending from the first open end to the second end. A closed end disc is disposed at the second end and seal-tightly closes off the second end. The closed end disc has a first connecting element that, for an intended installation of the secondary element in a filter system, is configured to interact with a second connecting element of a support tube of the filter system to secure the secondary element on the support tube. A filter system with such a secondary element has a support tube provided with a complementary second connecting element, wherein the secondary element is secured on the support tube by the first and second connecting elements engaging each other.

The intake air filter according to the invention is for cleaning intake air for internal combustion engines, in particular in vehicles. To this end, the intake air filter comprises an openable housing () with an inlet () and an outlet (). Disposed between the inlet () and the outlet () is an annular, closed main filter element () and an annular, closed secondary element (). The secondary element () is connected to the outlet (), whereby no contamination can pass through to the outlet () when the main filter element () is replaced. A centering device () is provided on the end face opposite the outlet () between the secondary element () and the main filter element (), said centering device being used to fix the position of the secondary element () within the main filter element (). This prevents relative movements between the main filter element () and the secondary element ().
