A method for suppressing developing explosions, in particular in containers or rooms with explosive dusts or gases, having a gas generator whose pressure gas expels the extinguishing agent from its container as a unit after a maximum pressure is reached and then distributes it as a cloud of extinguishing dust to the side and forwards so as to fill the space.

Method for suppressing developing explosions

An extinguisher includes a compressed-gas generator for fighting fire and incipient explosions, and the extinguisher includes at least one rupture diaphragm having a rupture joint, in order to seal the extinguishing-agent vessel. In its center, the rupture diaphragm has a planar surface or a depression, which causes the rupture joint to simultaneously open at its entire circumference, in order for the extinguishing agent to escape in an axially symmetric manner.

Extinguisher

A fire extinguisher includes a compressed gas generator for fighting fires and nascent explosions, and has two bursting membranes with predetermined breaking points for closing the fire extinguishing material container. The predetermined breaking points of the bursting membranes are designed with differences in resistance in order to achieve a time delay between the breaking occurrences of the two predetermined breaking points. This time delay ensures a non-deformed and rotationally symmetrical expulsion of the fire extinguishing material.

Fire extinguisher

A gas-generating mixture for an air bag, which has a rate of burnoff exceeding 40 mm/sec and good ignitability, but leads to a relatively low combustion temperature. The mixture is formed of an alkali or alkaline earth azide as the principal component, a metal oxide as the oxidizing agent and slag-forming agent, and 5 to 23 wt. % of an accelerator consisting of a metal nitrate and silicon dioxide, wherein the ratio of the metal nitrate to the silicon dioxide ranges from 4:1 to 1:4, and the silicon dioxide content is at least 4 wt. % of the mixture.
