A degasser for at least partially degassing a gas-containing liquid, in particular for a sample separation device, includes a liquid accommodation volume for accommodating the gas-containing liquid during degassing, a negative pressure chamber in which a negative pressure, compared to the liquid accommodation volume, is to be generated, a gas permeable membrane separating the liquid accommodation volume from the negative pressure chamber and arranged so that ultrasound forces at least part of gas of the gas-containing liquid to move through the membrane by a combination of the negative pressure and the ultrasound, and an ultrasound source including an electroactive material and configured for generating ultrasound for actuating the gas-containing liquid and/or the gas permeable membrane.

A valve for use in high-performance liquid chromatography has a spherical seat and a ball that, when it abuts against the seat, constrains a fluid from flowing through the valve and is capable of moving axially in order to allow the fluid to flow through the valve. The spherical seat has beveled outer faces in order that a force acting on the valve along the axial direction will generate a force acting on the ball. The inclination of the beveled outer face is such that a force acting on the ball counteracts a force exerted on the spherical seat by the ball and essentially compensates it.

A needle for handling a fluid in an analysis system is described. The needle includes a needle body made of a ceramic material and having a fluid conduit extending between a fitting end and a seat end. The fitting end is configured to be connected to a fitting and the seat end () being insertable into a seat. The needle body is tapering towards the fitting end. A fixing body is arranged on the needle body next to the fitting end for exerting an axial force when the needle body is connected to the fitting, and a slide-on element to be slid over the needle body so as to push the fixing body towards the fitting end.
