The invention provides a method for assisting in a parking operation for a motor vehicle () using a driver assistance system (). The driver assistance system () determines a parking path along which the motor vehicle () can be parked into a parking space () or driven out of the parking space (). Image data about surroundings (to) of the motor vehicle () are captured by at least one optical capture device (to) of the driver assistance system (). The image data are processed to produce an image () which shows a perspective view of at least one surrounding area () next to the motor vehicle (). The image () is displayed on a display device (). The image () is produced by taking account of a current position of the motor vehicle () on the calculated parking path. By way of example, a direction of view () and/or a field of view () from which the perspective view is shown can be set on the basis of the current position of the motor vehicle () on the parking path. The invention also provides a driver assistance system () and a motor vehicle ().

A method for displaying images () on a display device () of a driver assistance system () in a motor vehicle () is made available. Navigation data is received by the driver assistance system (), and sensor data relating to the surroundings (to) of the motor vehicle () is acquired by at least one sensor (to) of the driver assistance system (). A control device () processes the sensor data to form a surroundings image () which shows at least a surrounding area () next to the motor vehicle ('). Hitherto, an audibility window or the sensitivity of the system was adapted to fixed data of the vehicle and/or the roadway. According to the invention, the sensitivity, audibility window or even the emission response is adapted as a function of varying dynamic data of the vehicle or roadway.

Automobile distance sensors are becoming increasingly common. These sensors must be connected to the automobile bumper in a permanent fashion and rigidly in a predetermined installation position. According to the invention, the device for receiving an ultrasonic sensor is divided.
