One method () includes assigning () a first protocol stack of a device to network communications. The method () includes assigning () a second protocol stack of the device to sidelink communications. The method () includes generating (), at the second protocol stack, first information based on arrival of data in a sidelink logical channel. The method () includes transmitting () the first information from the second protocol stack to a network device via the first protocol stack.

Sidelink communication using multiple protocol stacks

A communication method includes transmitting resource assignment information including bits that indicate activation or deactivation statuses of respective downlink component carriers, which are secondary downlink component carriers added to a primary component carrier which is always activated, each of the downlink component carriers corresponding to one bit included in bits, and the one bit indicating that a corresponding downlink component carrier is to be activated or deactivated. When any one bit of the bits indicates that its corresponding downlink component carrier is to be activated, the bits jointly indicate the activation or deactivation statuses, a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission request and a channel quality information (CQI) reporting request. The method also includes receiving a SRS and a CQI that are transmitted, in response to the SRS transmission request and the CQI reporting request, on an uplink component carrier linked to an activated downlink component carrier(s).

Component carrier activation and deactivation using resource assignments

A base station () is provided with a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter () transmits a downlink signal in a downlink transmission region, in a time unit that includes the downlink transmission region, an uplink transmission region, and a gap period that is a switching point between the downlink transmission region and the uplink transmission region. The receiver () receives an uplink signal in the uplink transmission region, in the time unit. Furthermore, a delay tolerant signal for which a delay is tolerated more than for the downlink signal and the uplink signal is mapped to within the gap period.

A method allocates radio resources for a transmitting user equipment (UE) to perform direct communication transmissions over a direct sidelink connection to one or more receiving UEs. At least two sidelink grant processes are provided in the transmitting UE for the transmitting UE to handle at least two sidelink grants within the same transmission control period. Each one of the sidelink grant processes is associated with an identification and can be associated with one sidelink grant. The transmitting UE acquires at least two sidelink grants and associates each of the acquired sidelink grants with one sidelink grant process. For each sidelink grant, the transmitting UE allocates radio resources according to the respective sidelink grant to perform a direct communication transmission of sidelink control information and of data over the direct sidelink connection. The method includes determining a first EtherCAT datagram in the EtherCAT frame for a first device and a second EtherCAT datagram in the EtherCAT frame for a second device. The method includes extracting the first EtherCAT datagram from the EtherCAT frame to result in an extracted first EtherCAT datagram and the second EtherCAT datagram from the EtherCAT frame to result in an extracted second EtherCAT datagram. The method includes transmitting the extracted first EtherCAT datagram directly to the first device. The method includes transmitting the extracted second EtherCAT datagram directly to the second device.

One apparatus () includes a transceiver () that includes a plurality of UE panels associated with one or more beams. The present disclosure relates to transmitting transport blocks in subframes of a predefined length within a wireless communication system. A downlink control information including a resource grant comprising a predetermined modulation and a predetermined transport block size is received (user equipment is the transmitter) or generated (base station is the transmitter). Then transport block including channel coded data to be transmitted in a subframe with the predetermined modulation and the predetermined transport block size is generated. Sensing is performed in the subframes and based thereon, it is determined whether a partial subframe or a complete subframe is available for transmission of the generated transport block. Finally, the transport block is transmitted with a modified modulation different from the predetermined modulation if the partial rather than complete subframe is available. Correspondingly, at the receiver, the grant is received (user equipment is receiver) or generated (base station is the receiver), the size of the subframe in which the reception is expected is determined and then the transport block is received with a modified modulation if only the partial subframe is available.
