One apparatus includes a memory coupled to a processor, where the processor is configured to cause the second apparatus to receive a SL grant for a SL transmission using SL resources, the SL grant indicating a first HARQ process identified by a first HARQ process identifier, and to select a second SL HARQ process identified by a second SL HARQ process identifier for the SL transmission using the SL resources. The processor is configured to cause the second apparatus to transmit SCI containing the second SL HARQ process identifier and to perform the SL transmission using the SL resources.

One method includes, in response to a medium access control protocol data unit being in a message 3 buffer and receiving an uplink grant: obtaining the medium access control protocol data unit from the message 3 buffer; if a first size of the uplink grant does not match a second size of the medium access control protocol data unit: indicating to a multiplexing and assembly entity to include medium access control sub-protocol data units carrying medium access control service data units from the obtained medium access control protocol data unit in a subsequent uplink transmission; and obtaining the medium access control protocol data unit from the multiplexing and assembly entity.

One method includes receiving information indicating a sidelink failure detection resource set corresponding to at least one configured sidelink bandwidth part. The method () includes comparing () a current value of the indicator to a last known value of the indicator. The method () includes, in response to the current value not matching the last known value: flushing () a soft buffer; transferring a data packet corresponding to the indicator into the soft buffer; attempting to decode the data packet; in response to successfully decoding the data packet, performing an acknowledgment action; and, in response to unsuccessfully decoding the data packet, performing a non-acknowledgment action.

The data receiving node comprises first-layer processing circuitry for de-mapping at least one second-layer PDU, and second layer processing circuitry for receiving and parsing the second-layer PDU demapped by the first-layer processing circuitry, the second-layer PDU including at least one second-layer SDU, and at least one second-layer control element.

One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver operable on an uplink channel and on a sidelink channel. The processor identifies a sidelink transmission and an uplink transmission planned for an overlapping time and determines a transmission type of the sidelink transmission and of the overlapping uplink transmission. The processor prioritizes the uplink transmission over the sidelink transmission in response to the transmission type of the uplink transmission being a random-access procedure message for a primary cell. The processor prioritizes the sidelink transmission over the uplink transmission in response to the transmission type of the uplink transmission being a reference signal transmission.

Sidelink communication using multiple protocol stacks

A communication method includes transmitting resource assignment information including bits that indicate activation or deactivation statuses of respective downlink component carriers, which are secondary downlink component carriers added to a primary component carrier which is always activated, each of the downlink component carriers corresponding to one bit included in bits, and the one bit indicating that a corresponding downlink component carrier is to be activated or deactivated. When any one bit of the bits indicates that its corresponding downlink component carrier is to be activated, the bits jointly indicate the activation or deactivation statuses, a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission request and a channel quality information (CQI) reporting request. The method also includes receiving a SRS and a CQI that are transmitted, in response to the SRS transmission request and the CQI reporting request, on an uplink component carrier linked to an activated downlink component carrier(s).

Each one of the sidelink grant processes is associated with an identification and can be associated with one sidelink grant. The transmitting UE acquires at least two sidelink grants and associates each of the acquired sidelink grants with one sidelink grant process. For each sidelink grant, the transmitting UE allocates radio resources according to the respective sidelink grant to perform a direct communication transmission of sidelink control information and of data over the direct sidelink connection. The transmitting UE performs a direct communication transmission per acquired sidelink grant within the same transmission control period.

One method () includes determining () that a first transmission resource corresponding to a first user equipment preempts a second transmission resource corresponding to a second user equipment as a result of a collision between the first transmission re-source and the second transmission resource in a shared resource pool.
