A sun visor for an automotive vehicle, having one main surface in which is defined a recess in which a housing is disposed over which a cover is pivotally mounted. One hinge pin for the cover is placed on the visor body. A second hinge pin for the cover is placed on the cover. A C-shaped strap joins the hinge pins. Each end region of the strap has two detent recesses. A respective spring biased locking element at each end region engages in one or the other respective recess at the end region to hold the strap to pivot between two detented positions. This holds the cover and also permits the cover to pivot between detented positions, which enables the cover to be held closed against the one main surface, outwardly projecting from that surface or fully opened orientation at that surface. Details of both spring arrangements for cooperating with the detent recesses are disclosed. The side of the cover exposed at a fully open orientation carries a mirror.

The invention concerns a cushioned body for use in the interior of automotive vehicles, such as an armrest. A generally flat cushioning body comprised of elastic foam plastic has a stiffening insert imbedded in it. The stiffening insert is in the form of a mat, like a fiberglass cloth. Two rows of integral projections project from one surface of the cushioned body, and the projections include foamed sections of the stiffening insert. The projections along opposite longitudinal edges of the body are bent outward, oppositely to each other for facilitating securement of the cushioning body. Stiffening stop projections are placed on the inwardly facing sides of the projections in one row. As appropriate, the cushioned body is bent, for covering over a bent vehicle body section, as in an armrest, or the like.

Cushioning body for the interior of a vehicle, or the like

The disclosure concerns a device for fastening a handle, arm rest, or the like, to a wall in a vehicle, or the like. Two receptacles for pins are provided at spaced apart holes in the wall. A guide pin on the part is shaped so that once the guide pin is inserted in the wall, and the part is moved against the wall, the pin extends generally parallel to the wall. A locking pin is located at another location on the part and it extends straight into the wall. A pull out safety comprising two spring legs biased together against the pin prevent extraction of the locking pin. A third, retaining pin may be provided spaced from the other two pins and parallel to the locking pin for being received in yet another hole in the wall. The pull out safety is part of a clamp for the locking pin. The clamp is U-shaped and the legs of clamp hold the locking pin. The web of the clamp has a hole in it for permitting the locking pin to be shifted laterally of its length for unclamping and clamping the locking pin. The part itself has a reinforcing insert for stiffening it and the various pins may be parts of the reinforcing insert.

A device for attaching an article, such as an armrest, a hand grip, etc., to a base surface is disclosed. The device comprises an attachment clip and an insert which is receivable in an aperture in the clip. The clip is secured in an opening in the base surface. A dentate structure is provided either on the insert or in the attachment clip, and a locking device is provided on the other of the insert or the clip to engage the dentate structure, thereby to secure the attachment clip and the insert together. The locking device preferably is a suitably shaped spring. The insert is either tubular in shape, or a longitudinal segment of a tube. Rotation of the insert to one orientation disengages the dentate structure and the locking device, enabling insertion and removal of the insert. Rotation of the insert to another orientation engages the dentate structure and the locking device for locking the insert against longitudinal shifting.

The invention relates to an arm rest with an included hand grip or with a separate hand grip attached to it for use in a motor vehicle, or the like and which arm rest comprises a supporting reinforcement insert that is provided with a padded outer layer.

A lid for a glove compartment of a vehicle, or the like, comprised of an upper and a lower injection molded lid half, which halves are secured together, a lock for the glove compartment lid, including a swiveling lock bar, which is held to the lid, and a cam carrying tumbler which is moved to position cams for swivel opening the lock bar when the tumbler is pushed in, the lid halves are shaped with various recesses, holes and shapings for being supported in relative positions and for receiving and holding the lock.

An arm rest for a vehicle, including a recess for an ashtray insert; the arm rest is of foamed material and is covered with a skin layer that is secured to the foamed body and that is securely attached to the walls defining the recess for the ashtray insert; a detent or clip is formed in the skin layer at the ashtray insert recess for holding an ashtray insert in the recess.
