A methodof manufacturing a (part of) color ring is provided. The color ring converts a color of light emitted by a light emitter into at least one other color. The method () comprising the steps of: i) pressing () a first ring body of a first granulated precursor comprising a first luminescent material for converting the color of the light of the light emitter into a first one of the at least one other color, and ii) sintering () the first ring body for obtaining a first ceramic ring. The color ring comprises at least a segment of the first ceramic ring. Further, the method may comprises the steps of: iii) pressing () a second ring body of a second granulated precursor, wherein the first luminescent material is absent, iv) sintering () the second ring body for obtaining a second ceramic ring, v) segmenting () the first ceramic rings in at least two parts and segmenting () the second ceramic ring in at least two parts, and vi) forming () at least a part of the color ring by coupling a part of the first ceramic ring and a part of the second ceramic ring.

The invention relates to membranes, in particular oxygen separation membranes, which enable improved gas separation conditions with respect to cost, price, size, weight, and noise. The membrane, in particular oxygen separation membrane, according to the invention comprises a support layer () and a separation layer (), wherein the separation layer () is permeable for oxygen and has a sorptive affinity for at least one other gas, in particular for nitrogen, wherein the membrane () is designed such that substantially only the separation layer () is heatable by a heating device.

A smoothening layer or particles located within or on the colloidal layer is provided so that the roughness of the outer surface of the colloidal layer which is facing towards the first electrode layer is R&#x2266;30 nm and R&#x2267;1 nm.

An electroluminescent device includes a substrate and a laminated body composed of a first electrode, an electroluminescent layer and a second electrode. The light output out of the electroluminescent device is increased by arranging a colloidal layer between the substrate and the laminated body. By using pigments in the colloidal layer, the emission color of the electroluminescent device can be changed and the daylight contrast improved.

The invention describes a color picture screen with an enhanced contrast. The color picture screen comprises a color filter layer between the picture screen glass and the phosphor layer, which filter layer comprises a red pigment in the areas of the red phosphors, a blue pigment in the areas of the blue phosphors, and a blue or a red pigment in the areas of the green phosphors.

A plasma picture screen is disclosed. In one embodiment, an AC plasma picture screen with a coplanar arrangement which has an enhanced luminance is provided. A layer, which has a high reflection in the wavelength range of the plasma emission (145 to 200 nm) and a high transmission in the visible wavelength range, is provided on the front plate. The front plate includes a glass plate on which a dielectric layer, a protective layer, a reflective layer are provided. The reflective layer reflects UV light emitted in the direction of the front plate back towards phosphors. The optical properties of the UV light reflecting layer are realized with inorganic particles with a particle diameter of between 200 nm and 500 nm and a layer thickness from 0.5 &mgr;m to 5 &mgr;m, or with agglomerates of inorganic particles with a particle diameter of between 10 nm and 200 nm and a layer thickness of 0.2 &mgr;m to 10 &mgr;m.
