A method of operating an adjustable roll stabilizer () of a motor vehicle. The adjustable roll stabilizer () includes an actuator () which can rotate relative to a rotational axis () in order to twist two stabilizer sections () connected thereto relative to one another about the rotational axis (). The stabilizer sections () are radially spaced away from the rotational axis () and each is coupled to a wheel suspension (). The actuator () is controlled on the basis of a system target torque specified for the vehicle, and the specified system target torque is tested for acceptability in relation to a roll torque distribution (&#x3b2;) that is acceptable for the motor vehicle.

Method of operating an adjustable roll stabilizer

A stabilizer () for the anti-roll stabilization of a vehicle (). The stabilizer () has a first stabilizer element () and a second stabilizer element (). The first stabilizer element () is, or can be, coupled to a first wheel suspension element () of the vehicle () and the second stabilizer element () is, or can be, coupled to a second wheel suspension element () of the vehicle (). Furthermore, the stabilizer () is provided with an electric motor () designed to rotate the first stabilizer element (), relative to the second stabilizer element () in response to a control signal, so as to decouple the first wheel suspension element () from the second wheel suspension element (). In this case the control signal represents a signal determined on the basis of a field-orientated control system.
