A transportation apparatus having improved brake control. The actual speed of the transportation apparatus is compared with a reference speed signal, and when the actual speed exceeds the reference speed a brake is applied to slow the transportation apparatus. Rather than simply applying the full torque of the brake abruptly, the present invention discloses an apparatus for pulse duration modulating the control signal for controlling the brake. The brake responds to the average of the pulse duration modulated control signal such that braking torque is applied gradually and essentially linearly. The device can also be used in an acceleration situation to provide gradual acceleration of the transportation apparatus.

Conveyor brake control

A coil for a 12-pulse transformer-rectifier apparatus assembled on a three-leg magnetic core comprising a half primary winding sandwiched between two half secondary windings of substantially the same height as the half primary winding. A pair of coils associated with one leg of a three-leg magnetic core in a 12-pulse transformer-rectifier, are oriented in opposition to one another, and have all their terminal conductors extending parallel to one another with transversal connectors in closely-related parallel planes.

Transformer for low distortion rectifier system

A current divider having two major current paths and a shunting current path is disclosed. The shunting current path connects the two major current paths at a point on each major current path such that the shunting current path connects points which have slightly different voltage potentials. This slight difference in voltage potentials causes a current to flow in the shunting current path. The current that flows in the shunting current path is a predetermined fraction of the total current and is primarily dependent on the difference in voltage potentials which is a function of the location of the shunting current path. The current that flows in the shunting current path is substantially independent of the ratio of the cross-sectional areas and/or the inverse lengths of the current paths in that for a given cross-sectional area of the shunting current path various values for the current split off may be obtained by varying the location of the shunting current path.

Current divider for a current sensing transducer

A current sensing transducer includes a conductive current divider including a branch path for conducting a fractional current proportional to a current to be sensed and being applied through the divider. A compensated transformer includes a primary circuit responsive to the fractional current and two secondary windings. An amplifier circuit controls the current input to one secondary winding in response to the output of the other secondary winding so that the flux of the primary circuit is virtually compensated in the core and the secondary winding current is a measure of the current to be sensed.
