An installation switching device which rapidly disconnects short-circuit currents is provided. A contact lever is arranged at least partially in an air gap in a magnetic circuit such that, in case of a short circuit, the interaction between current flow and magnetic flux within the air gap can result in an electrodynamic force effect, which leads to rapid opening of at least one contact point. A switching mechanism acts via a first operating connecting line on the contact lever to open the contact point and/or to keep it open. In case of overcurrent tripping, an overcurrent release acts, by a switching mechanism and via a second operating connecting line, on the switching mechanism to open the contact point and keep it open. In case of short-circuit tripping, the contact lever acts via a third operating connecting line on the switching mechanism to keep the contact point open.

Installation switching device

A current path in an installation switching device includes first and second contact points, which respectively include first and second levers. The second lever is arranged in an air gap in a magnetic circuit. In case of a short circuit, an electrodynamic force, which leads to rapid opening of the second contact point, can act on the second lever due to interaction of current flow with magnetic flux within the air gap. A switching mechanism acts via a first connecting line on the first lever to open and/or keep open the first contact point. In case of overcurrent tripping, an overcurrent release acts through the switching mechanism and a second connecting line on the switching mechanism to open and keep open the first contact point. In case of short-circuit tripping, the second lever acts via a third connecting line on the switching mechanism to keep the first contact point open.

The invention describes an arc-quenching arrangement for an electrical service switching device, with a fixed contact piece, a movable contact piece, with an arc splitter stack having arc splitter plates, each arc splitter plate having a cutout which is open towards the arc formation point, has a V-shaped notch and tapers in the form of a funnel in the arc running direction, and the arc being guided into the arc splitter stack via a first arc guide rail, which is associated with the fixed contact piece, and a second arc guide rail, which is associated with the movable contact piece. The first arc guide rail has a first, rectangular section, which faces the arc formation location, and a second section, which adjoins the first section and is in the form of a rectangular trapezium and whose first limb extends at an angle with respect to the mid-longitudinal axis of the first section and away therefrom.

Electrical switching device with a thermal release

An installation switching device includes a housing, a main contact point having an arc quenching chamber, an input terminal, an output terminal, an impact-style armature system configured to move the main contact point to an open position, a latching mechanism having a latching point and configured to open an isolating contact point disposed in a secondary current path parallel to a main current path, a main thermostatic bimetallic strip configured to act on the latching point to as to cause the main contact point to remain in the open position, a current limiting resistor disposed in the secondary current path, a selective thermostatic bimetallic strip disposed in the secondary current path and configured to act on the latching mechanism, a handle configured to act on the latching mechanism so as to open and close the main contact point, and a phase connecting rail.

The disclosure relates to an electrical service switching device, e.g., a circuit breaker, having a magnetic release with a magnet armature, a thermal release, a fixed and moving contact piece, a switching mechanism which can be tripped by the thermal and magnetic release and has a latching point which is formed by a tripping lever and a catch lever which is mounted in a fixed position such that it can rotate and has an elongated hole in order to guide a clip, wherein the magnet armature can act on the contact lever, to which the moving contact piece is fitted, in order to open the contact point in the event of a short, and the switching mechanism can hold the contact lever permanently in the open position, having a switching toggle for manual operation of the switching mechanism, and having an intermediate lever which is articulated at one of its ends with the contact lever and at its other end on the clip, wherein the clip is articulated with at least one limb on the switching toggle.
