A method of assessing chemical products includes: receiving input data including identification of a chemical substance at a processing device; evaluating a regulatory impact of the chemical substance based on at least one of global regulation data, regional regulation data and jurisdiction-specific regulation data, and outputting a regulatory impact assessment; evaluating potential hazards posed by the chemical substance based on available data related to characteristics of the chemical substance by comparing the characteristics to a plurality of criteria including environmental criteria, toxicity criteria related to effects on human health, and physical criteria related to hazards encountered during material transportation and handling, and outputting a chemical hazard assessment; and generating a chemical assessment report indicating potential impact due to use of the chemical substance, the chemical assessment report indicating chemical assessment results that include the regulatory impact assessment and the chemical hazard assessment.

Methods, systems and computer program products for chemical hazard evaluation

Detoxification of quaternary onium compounds with polycarboxylate-containing compound

A method and corrosion inhibitor for inhibiting corrosion of metal equipment in an aqueous medium comprising components selected from the group consisting of fish, other algae, and a combination thereof. The method comprises incorporating into the medium a corrosion inhibiting amount of a water soluble corrosion inhibitor comprising an N-ethoxy, 2-substituted imidazoline. The N-ethoxy substituent comprises a quantity of ethylene oxide effective to render the imidazoline water soluble. The corrosion inhibitor is rendered more environmentally compatible by shortening the number of carbon atoms in the fatty acid chain at the 2-position of the imidazoline. The fatty acid chain consists essentially about 18 carbon atoms or less, preferably about 10 carbon atoms or less, most preferably from about 6 to about 8 carbon atoms. As the number of carbon atoms in the fatty acid chain is reduced, the efficacy of the corrosion inhibitor is increased by combination with a wetting agent, preferably an ethoxylated alcohol having from about 8 to about 10 carbon atoms.

Combinations of imidazolines and wetting agents as environmentally acceptable corrosion inhibitors

A method for inhibiting corrosion in an aqueous medium is disclosed. The method comprises incorporating into the medium an amount of a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor sufficient to inhibit corrosion. The corrosion inhibitor comprises an N-ethoxy, 2-substituted imidazoline, the N-ethoxy substituent having from one to about thirty ethoxy units and the 2-substituent being an unsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty chain of from about six to about thirty carbons. If the medium is sweet, the inhibitor further comprises a phosphate ester derived from a water-soluble oxyethylated, straight chain alcohol of from about two to about thirty carbons. Corrosion inhibitor compositions useful in such method are also disclosed.

Biodegradable corrosion inhibitors of low toxicity

A method for inhibiting corrosion in an aqueous medium is disclosed. The method comprises incorporating into the medium an amount of a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor sufficient to inhibit corrosion. The corrosion inhibitor comprises an N-ethoxy,2-substituted imidazoline, the N-ethoxy substituent having from one to about thirty ethoxy units and the 2-substituent being an unsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty chain of from about six to about thirty carbons. If the medium is sweet, the inhibitor further comprises a phosphate ester derived from a water-soluble oxyethylated, straight chain alcohol of from about two to about thirty carbons.
