Provided are a light controlling apparatus and a method of fabricating the same. The light controlling apparatus includes: a first electrode unit and a second electrode unit facing each other; a liquid crystal unit between the first electrode unit and the second electrode unit, the liquid crystal unit including a liquid crystal; a wall having a first polymer being polymerized from a first monomer the first monomer having a higher diffusion speed than a second monomer; and a network having a second polymer being polymerized from the second monomer, the second monomer having a lower diffusion speed than the first monomer.

Light controlling apparatus and method of fabricating the same

Disclosed is a transparent display device in which a light shield rate is not lowered by partition walls in a light shield mode, and moreover, a light transmittance is not lowered in a transmissive mode. The transparent display device includes a transparent display panel including a plurality of transmissive areas transmitting incident light and a plurality of emissive areas emitting light, and a light control device disposed on a rear surface of the transparent display panel. The light control device is configured to be driven in a transmissive mode where the incident light is transmitted and a light shield mode where the incident light is blocked.

A liquid crystal display and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel for displaying an image, an external light sensing unit for sensing an illuminance of external light around the liquid crystal display panel, a backlight unit whose an output luminance is controlled by an adjustment dimming signal, and a gamma curve adjusting circuit for modulating digital video data or varying resistances of variable resistors constituting a gamma resistor string based on the illuminance of external light or according to a relative maximum white luminance based on the adjustment dimming signal, so as to uniformly keep a relative brightness of the input image a user perceives irrespective of changes in the illuminance of external light.

A liquid crystal display converts white luminance Y of data displaying a white background into a value satisfying a certain equation upon detecting a brightness contrast image including a pure color image with the white background.

There is provided a liquid crystal display. A liquid crystal display panel displays an image. An external light sensor senses a color temperature of external light around the liquid crystal display panel. The output luminance of a backlight is controlled in response to an adjustment dimming signal which is varied according to an input image. A gamma curve adjustment circuit restores an original color of the display image irrespective of a change in the viewing environments by modulating input digital video data based on the color temperature of the external light or a relative maximum white luminance for the adjustment dimming signal.
