A transmitter for a magnetic body area network includes a power oscillator that directly uses a body coil as a resonant element. Shunt transistor circuitry is between the power oscillator and the body coil, the shunt transistor circuitry selectively shunts current from the body coil in response to a data signal provided to the transmitter. Power injection circuitry is synchronized to the power oscillator to selectively inject power into the body coil in response to the data signal. A tuning capacitor array is disposed to tune frequency in the body coil. A frequency-locked-loop responds to a frequency in the body coil and tunes the tuning capacitor array to lock to a carrier frequency. Very high Q coils can be used while achieving high data transmission rates of 5 mbps to 10 mbps. Transmitters and methods are applicable to on-off-key modulation, frequency-shift modulation and amplitude-shift modulation.

Low power magnetic field body area network with quenching and quick start

An apparatus for wireless power transfer is described. In some implementations, the apparatus includes a resonant circuit configured to receive a radio frequency input and generate an in-phase voltage and an out-of-phase voltage. The apparatus further includes a pulse generation circuit configured to at least gate the in-phase voltage to provide a first output voltage, and gate the out-of-phase voltage to provide a second output voltage. The apparatus further includes a pulse width modulation circuit configured to provide, to the pulse generating circuit, information for controlling the pulse width modulation setting. The apparatus further includes a pulse frequency modulation circuit configured to provide, to the pulse generating circuit, information for controlling the pulse frequency modulation setting, the information for controlling the pulse frequency modulation setting determined based on the pulse width modulation setting. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Resonant regulating rectifier with an integrated antenna

In one respect, there is provided an apparatus for neural stimulation. The apparatus may include an antenna, a plurality of electrodes, and a voltage supply generator. The antenna may be configured to receive, from an external source, radio frequency energy. The voltage supply generator configured to generate a voltage supply by at least ramping up a voltage of the radio frequency energy in successive increments, wherein the voltage supply drives a current to the plurality of electrodes during neural stimulation. Related methods and computer program products are also disclosed.

Radio frequency powered adiabatic stimulation with energy replenishment

The invention provides a body area network. A first coil is configured to be worn on a body portion of a human, and the first coil is configured and positioned to use a body leveraged magnetic field. A transmitter drives the first coil to generate a magnetic body field through the first magnetic coil at a frequency selected such that the body leveraged magnetic field simultaneously includes near-field and far-field components and the far-field components are enhanced by a high dielectric constant of bodily tissue. A second coil couples to the signal transmitted via the first coil, and the second coil is configured and positioned to receive both of the near- and far-field components. A receiver receives the signal from the second coil. A method for establishing network communications using the human body as a magnetic field drives a transmitter coil to generate magnetic near- and far-field components that include the human body as a medium to propagate the magnetic near- and far-field components, wherein the driving is at a frequency and transmission power selected to enhance far-field magnetic flux density via guiding at a boundary of the human body.
