A method includes determining whether an application has previously been executed by a computing device. The method includes, responsive to determining that the application has not previously been executed by the computing device, determining, by the application, contextual information associated with the computing device. The method also includes determining, based at least in part on the contextual information, content to include in at least one template graphic user interface of a plurality of template graphical user interfaces for an onboarding tutorial of the application. At least one template graphical user interface is associated with at least one feature of the application. The method also includes generating, based on the at least one template graphical user interface and the content, at least a first graphical user interface of the onboarding tutorial. The method further includes outputting an indication of the first graphical user interface of the onboarding tutorial.

Dynamically generating custom application onboarding tutorials

Methods and systems are described for determining an optimal access point for a client device based on the relative difference between signal strengths of wireless signals received by the client device from access points. In particular, the signal strengths of wireless signals received by a client device from access points are determined without receipt of signal strength and/or transmit power information from the client device. Instead, the signal strength difference value may be determined based on known characteristics of signals transmitted by the access points and known characteristics of signals received by the access points from the client device. This relative difference value may thereafter be used to determine an appropriate access point to provide network access to the client device.

Estimating a relative difference between signal strengths of wireless signals received by a device

Methods, systems, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating and routing modified multimedia data frames. In one aspect, the method includes maintaining, by a first network node, channel membership data that includes data indicating, for each channel of a plurality of channels, leaf node membership for a plurality of channels, and for each channel of the plurality of channels: determining, based on the channel membership data, the leaf nodes that are subscribed to access the channel, generating, based on the leaf nodes that are subscribed to access the channel, a modified multimedia data frame for the channel that includes (i) a hub node identifier, (ii) data that describes a destination address of each leaf node that is subscribed to access the channel and (iii) a payload, and transmitting, by the first network node, the generated modified multimedia data frame to a second network node.

Example implementations relate to upgrading controllers and access points by group. A master controller may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to create a plurality of groups of access points (APs) connected to a first and a second local controller, move a subset of the plurality of APs connected to the first local controller to the second local controller, upgrade the first local controller, move APs associated with a group of the plurality of APs to the first local controller, and upgrade the APs associated with the group of the first local controller.

Examples relate to access point signal estimation. In one example, a computing device may: receive a first pathloss value in a first frequency, the first pathloss value indicating a difference in transmit power of a particular access point and a received signal strength observed by a first access point; receive a second pathloss value in the first frequency, the second pathloss value indicating a difference in transmit power of the particular access point and a received signal strength observed by a second access point; receive a third pathloss value in a second frequency, the third pathloss value indicating a difference in transmit power of the particular access point and a received signal strength observed by the second access point in the second frequency; and generate, using the first, second, and third pathloss values, an estimated pathloss between the first access point and the particular access point in the second frequency.

Access point signal estimation

Examples relate to determining access point power output. In one example, a computing device may: identify, for a particular access point, a plurality of neighboring access points; identify, for each neighboring access point, a pathloss value that indicates a difference in a transmit power of the neighboring access point and a received signal strength observed by the particular access point; identify, from the neighboring access points, at least one adjacent access point, each adjacent access point having a pathloss value that is less than a pathloss threshold; generate a representative pathloss using the pathloss values of each adjacent access point; determine a target power level for the representative pathloss; and provide at least one of the neighboring access points with instructions that cause the at least one neighboring access point to adjust a power output level of the at least one neighboring access point.

Determining access point power output

A non-transitory computer readable medium for storing instructions is disclosed. The instructions, when executed by one or more hardware processors, causes performance of operations including (i) for a plurality of wireless signals received by a first access point located in a physical environment, determining (a) a corresponding plurality of received signal strength values and (b) a corresponding plurality of locations from where the plurality of wireless signals were transmitted, and (ii) generating a reverse heat map for the physical environment such that a plurality of zones in the reverse heat map are defined based on (a) the corresponding plurality of received signal strength values and (b) the corresponding plurality of locations determined for the plurality of wireless signals.

A method may determine the location and/or motion of a client device. Based on these determinations, the method may 1) delay a potential move of the client device to a new access point until the client device reaches a non-transitional or less dense area or is stationary, 2) delay a potential move of the client device to a new access point while the client device is on the edge of the network environment, 3) compute a probable destination of the client device and wait until this destination is reached before triggering movement to a new access point, 4) reduce the effects caused by shadowing, 5) guide the client device to more proximate access points, and 6) guide the client device to dedicated proximate access points when client devices are relatively motionless. Accordingly, the method dynamically leverages client device location and motion to intelligently assign client devices to access points.
