Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a throttling indicator for a shared resource associated with a modem at the UE. The CE may determine a configuration of the modem based on a configuration received from a Radio Resource Control layer of the UE. Based on the modem configuration and the throttling indicator, the UE may identify a throttling level to apply to the modem. The UE may adjust the modem configuration for communicating with a base station based on the throttling level in order to reduce resource usage below a usage threshold. By reducing usage of the shared resource by the modem, the UE may have a greater availability of the shared resource to meet the needs of other components of the UE. This may provide an improved user experience at the UE, among other benefits.

Modem throughput throttling

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may adaptively switch between hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) monitoring modes to support power savings. In a first HARQ skipping mode, the UE may transmit an uplink message corresponding to a HARQ identifier and may receive a positive acknowledgment (ACK) message in a HARQ monitoring occasion associated with the HARQ identifier. Upon receiving the ACK message, the UE refrains from monitoring a subsequent HARQ monitoring occasion associated with the HARQ identifier while in the first HARQ skipping mode (e.g., an aggressive HARQ skipping mode). The UE may periodically enter a periodic evaluation mode from the first HARQ skipping mode, in which the UE monitors a subsequent HARQ monitoring occasion after receiving an ACK message to check for false ACK messages. If a false ACK message is detected, the UE enters a first HARQ skipping prohibited mode.

Techniques for controlling hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may support dynamic clock switching within a transmission time interval (TTI) to allow for more efficient and flexible processing within the TTI. In particular, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to use multiple clock speeds for processing signals within a TTI, and the UE may determine a clock speed to use for processing data within a TTI based on control information received from a base station. For example, the UE may determine an amount of time available for processing data based on the control information received from the base station, and the UE may adjust its clock speed to finish processing the data in the determined amount of time.

Dynamic clock switching within a transmission time interval

Methods and apparatus for decoding system information include determining a maximum repetition rate duration based at least in part on a master information block (MIB). The methods and apparatus further include generating a distributed system information block (SIB) decoding scheme for allocating radio frequency resources between a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and a second SIM. In some aspects, the distributed SIB decoding scheme includes a partitioned SIB decoding schedule for the maximum repetition rate duration and based at least in part on a continuous SIB decoding period. Additionally, the methods and apparatus include attempting to decode one or more SIBs during the maximum repetition rate duration according to the distributed SIB decoding scheme.

The present disclosure presents example methods and apparatuses for improved cell searching in a wireless communications environment. For example, the disclosure presents example methods that can include computing a predicted serving signal strength associated with a serving cell where a mobility state of a user equipment is one of a stationary state or a low mobility state. Furthermore, in an aspect, the example method can include ascertaining a search threshold based at least on the predicted serving signal strength and generating a search integration length based on at least the search threshold. In addition, some example methods may include scanning for one or more reselection candidate cells based on at least the search integration length, wherein each of the one or more reselection candidate cells has a cell signal strength greater than the search threshold.

Methods and apparatuses for saving user equipment power by search length reduction

The various embodiments include a dual-SIM-dual-active (DSDA) device and methods for implementing robust receive (Rx) processing to resolve radio frequency coexistence interference between two subscriptions operating on the DSDA device. The DSDA device may detect when a subscription (the 'aggressor') de-senses the other subscription (the 'victim') as a result of the aggressor's transmissions, and in response, implement robust Rx processing to mitigate the effects of de-sense on the victim while causing minimal impact to the aggressor.

The methods and apparatus may further include determining whether to perform the cell search based on the undetected energy-related value and a reselection criteria.

At least one feature pertains to a method of communication that comprises aligning a measurement task that utilizes a resource within a user equipment, such that at least a portion of the measurement task is performed during a time that the resource is enabled in the user equipment, and executing the measurement task during the time that the resource is enabled in the user equipment. In one example, the measurement task may be a searcher task, the resource may comprise receiver circuitry, and the time that the resource is enabled corresponds to a DRX monitoring interval of a downlink channel, such as a high speed shared control channel. Reducing searcher overhead allows the user equipment to save power by disabling the receiver circuitry.

The method determines the slot timing of a transmission, identifies the primary scrambling code and frame timing using the common pilot channel, and provides a path profile using a pseudorandom noise (PN) search. A method of data classification for use in a wireless communication system includes obtaining decoder metrics from a decoder. The decoder metrics correspond to data generated by the decoder. The decoder metrics include a symbol error rate (SER) and an energy metric (EM). The method also includes classifying the data into a first category if the data fails a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) check, into a second category if the data passes the CRC check and is determined to be unreliable, or into a third category if the data passes the CRC check and is determined to be reliable. A reliability of the data is determined based on the decoder metrics and an EM threshold.

A method of data classification for use in a wireless communication system includes obtaining decoder metrics from a decoder. The decoder metrics correspond to data generated by the decoder. The decoder metrics include a first metric and a second metric. The method also includes classifying the data into a first category if the data fails an error detection check, into a second category if the data passes the error detection check and is determined to be unreliable, or into a third category if the data passes the error detection check and is determined to be reliable. A reliability of the data is determined based on at least one of the decoder metrics and a threshold.

The described apparatus and methods may include a receiver configured to receive a signal, the signal being a combination of physical channel signals that each correspond to a different one of a plurality of physical channels, and a controller configured to capture signal energy from at least two of the physical channel signals, and detect a cell based on the captured signal energy.

Method and apparatus for facilitating cell detection using additional physical channels in a wireless communication system

Techniques for predicting weights used for closed-loop transmit diversity. In a channel prediction scheme, channel gains for multiple transmit antennas are initially estimated (e.g., based on pilots received from these antennas) and used to derive predicted channel gains for a future time instant. The predicted channel gains are then used to derive predicted weights that are deemed to be 'optimal' at the future time instant. Optimality may be determined based on one or more criteria, such as maximizing a received SNR for the received signals. In a weight prediction scheme, the channel gains for the multiple antennas are estimated and used to compute optimal weights for the current time instant. The current optimal weights are then used to predict the optimal weights at the future time instant. For both schemes, the prediction may be performed based on an adaptive filter (e.g., LMS or RLS filter) or a non-adaptive filter.

Weight prediction for closed-loop mode transmit diversity

A trellis decoder determines the most likely transmitted phase in response to previously requested phase adjustments and observed transmitted symbols. Maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoding also may be used. Alternatively, the identified likely transmitted phase is used for data demodulation. This and related features have the benefit of decreasing the effect of phase discrepancies introduced by erroneous reception of phase adjustment information, resulting in improved error rates, and a corresponding increase in system capacity, data throughput, or both.

Closed loop transmit diversity antenna verification using trellis decoding

A received symbol stream is oversampled and correlated with a known sync word to determine the correlation properties of the oversampled signal with a known sync word. A linear filter, such as a moving average window filter, is convolved with the correlation signal to generate a convolution signal. Once the convolution signal has reached a predetermined threshold, it is scanned over a predetermined window of oversamples. If the convolution signal exceeds the threshold for the window of oversamples, the sync word has been found and the symbol stream is down-sampled at intervals that depend on the data rate of the symbol stream. This down-sampling process may be done by picking the center oversample corresponding to each information symbol given the timing alignment, or by doing a majority vote over a multiple number of samples centered around the center oversample.
