One or more aspects of the technical solutions described herein facilitate using transdermal infrared optics to discover infraspectral markers. The infraspectral markers can predict presence/absence of one or more physiological state in a subject. One or more aspects of the technical solutions described herein further facilitate continuous monitoring and prediction of trends of a physiological state of a subject using non-invasive transdermal infrared optics. Further, one or more aspects of the technical solutions described herein facilitate personalized triage of and alerts for a subject based on continuous monitoring of non-invasive transdermal optical infraspectral markers.

Infrared spectroscopic devices and methods of use for transdermal patient assessment

Transdermal optical sensing systems and methods of use and calibration are described. The systems include a master and secondary sensing device, an optical component arranged within the device, with an optical component surface exposed for contact with an epidermis of a subject, an optical emitter, an optical detector, and electronics including a controller configured to measure the light at the optical detector to determine the presence of one or more compounds within the epidermis, to perform a calibration of the sensing device including generating a master calibration curve, to detect a condition state of the sensing device, and to generate a biomarker correlation curve for a biomarker or combination of biomarkers.

As described herein, a system includes an optical sensor, and a controller that detects progression of obstructive coronary artery disease using a sensor signal from the optical sensor. For example, the system is used for detecting an occlusion in a cardiovascular system of a user. A computer-implemented method for detecting the occlusion includes generating a light within a predetermined spectral range, the light directed towards a reflective element at a predetermined angle. The method further includes receiving a reflected light caused by a reflection of the light off of a reflecting element that is in contact with the user's epidermis. The method further includes detecting a concentration of a predetermined biomarker in a biofluid in the cardiovascular system based on variations in amplitude of the reflected light. The method further includes determining an occlusion in the cardiovascular system based on the concentration of the predetermined biomarker.

Transdermal optical detection of cardiac biomarkers

Disclosed are methods, systems, and apparatuses for non-invasive detection of colitis in a subject. The methods involve depositing a bodily fluid sample from the subject on an internal reflection element (IRE). A beam of infrared (IR) radiation can then be directed through the IRE under conditions such that the IR radiation interacts with the bodily fluid sample. An absorption spectrum can then be recorded over a range of preselected frequencies to detect peaks that are affected by colitis. In preferred embodiments, the methods and systems involve Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).

ATR-FTIR for non-invasive detection of colitis

Disclosed are methods, systems, and apparatuses for rapidly detecting a cellular interaction, such as ligand:receptor interactions. For example, the disclosed methods and systems can be used to detect a cellular interaction within 15 minutes to 75 minutes. This allows cells to be used as biosensors to detect cell activating agents in a sample.
