A cyclic siloxane compound, composition, method, and an article including the siloxane, wherein the cyclic siloxane has the following Formula (I): wherein: each Rand Ris independently a (C1-C4)alkyl; each Land Lis independently a single bond, an alkylene, or an alkylene bonded to a group selected from oxy, thio, carbonyl, —NH—, and combinations thereof; each R3 is independently a linear (C14-C100)alkyl; each R4 is independently a (C1-C30)alkyl, a (C2-C30)heteroalkyl having at least one oxygen, sulfur, or —NH— group, or a (C1-C30)alkyl substituted with a fluoro, thiol, isocyanato, cyanato, hydroxyl, glycidoxy, or epoxy group; with the proviso that L, L2, and Rare selected such that each Si atom is directly bonded to an alkylene or an alkyl; m is an integer of at least 2; n is an integer of 0 or above; m+n is an integer of at least 3; and the cyclic siloxane compound is a solid at 25° C.

Cyclic siloxanes, compositions, methods, and articles

Barrier adhesive compositions include at least one polyisobutylene-containing polymer and a curable silsesquioxane additive. The curable silsesquioxane additive may contain free radically polymerizable groups. Barrier film articles include the barrier adhesive compositions and a film. The barrier film articles can be used to encapsulate organic electronic devices.

Barrier adhesive compositions and articles

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding articles and methods of producing and using the same are described. The articles include electrically conductive fillers and silsesquioxane-like (SSQ-like) particles distributed inside a polymeric matrix material. In some cases, adding the SSQ-like particles leads to increased porosity of the articles which improves EMI absorbing performance.

Silsesquioxane polymers, compositions, and articles

Silicone-based elastomeric materials, articles containing the silicone-based elastomeric materials, reaction mixtures used to form the silicone-based elastomeric materials, and methods of making the silicone-based elastomeric materials are described. The silicone-based elastomeric materials are prepared by polymerizing silicone compounds having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the presence of actinic radiation and a controlled radical initiator. The controlled radical initiators are bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compounds having a single carbon between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups. The silicone-based elastomeric materials typically have improved mechanical properties compared to silicone-based elastomeric materials formed by free radical polymerization reactions in the presence of conventional photoinitiators.

Photo-radical cure of silicones

Silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, reaction mixtures used to form the pressure-sensitive adhesives, methods of making the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, and articles containing the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives are described. More particularly, the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives include silicone-based elastomeric materials that are prepared by polymerizing a silicone compound having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the presence of actinic radiation (e.g., ultraviolet radiation) and a controlled radical initiator. The controlled radical initiator is a bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compound having a single carbon between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups.

Silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesive

A curable silsesquioxane polymer, a composition including such polymer, an article having a layer disposed thereon that includes the curable polymer and/or the cured polymer, and a method of forming a cured coating, wherein the curable silsesquioxane polymer includes a three-dimensional branched network having the formula: wherein: the oxygen atom at the * is bonded to another Si atom within the three-dimensional branched network; R is an organic group comprising an ethylenically unsaturated group; n is an integer of greater than 3; and the &#x2014;OH groups are present in an amount of at least 15 wt-% of the polymer.

Curable silsesquioxane polymers, compositions, articles, and methods

Described herein is a fluoroalkyl silicone comprising the following formula (I) wherein Rand Rare independently selected from an alkyl group or an aryl group; Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group or a Rf'OCHFCFgroup wherein Rf&#x2032; is a perfluoroalkyl group, and wherein Rf and Rf&#x2032; optionally comprise at least one catenary heteroatom; X, Y, and Z are independently selected from an alkyl group, a poly(alkylene oxide) group, or a hydrolysable group, wherein at least one of X, Y, and Z is a hydrolysable group; x is an integer of at least 3; y is an integer of at least 2; and m and n are independently at least 1. 

Fluoroalkyl silicones

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising at least one low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer, and at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer typically has a Tg no greater than 10&#xb0; C. In some embodiments, the low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer comprises at least 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70 wt-% of polymerized units derived from low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s). The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s) is typically an alkyl (meth)acrylate comprising 4 to 20 carbon atoms. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and methods of preparing such articles.

Adhesive compositions comprising a silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker, articles and methods

Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are described comprising at least one low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer typically has a Tg no greater than 10&#xb0; C. In some embodiments, the composition comprises at least 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70 wt-% of low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer is typically an alkyl (meth)acrylate comprising 4 to 20 carbon atoms. In another embodiment, an adhesive composition is described comprising a syrup. The syrup comprising i) a free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer; ii) a solute (meth)acrylic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from one or more alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers, and iii) at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer, polymerized units of the solute (meth)acrylic polymer, or a combination thereof comprise a low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and method of preparing adhesive articles.

A curable silsesquioxane polymer, a composition including such polymer, an article having a layer disposed thereon that includes the curable polymer and/or the cured polymer, and a method of forming a cured coating, wherein the curable silsesquioxane polymer includes a three-dimensional branched network having the formula: wherein the oxygen atom at the * is bonded to another Si atom within the three-dimensional branched network; R is an organic group comprising an ethylenically unsaturated group; and R2 is an organic group that is not an ethylenically unsaturated group; Ris a non-hydrolyzable group; and n or n+m is an integer of greater than 3.

Novel fluoroalkyl silicones, and use thereof in release coatings, are described. The fluoroalkyl silicones are of the general formula: (I). 

Curable silsesquioxane polymers are described comprising a silsesquioxane polymer comprising reactive groups. The curable silsesquioxane polymer is free of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The silsesquioxane polymers may be homopolymers or copolymers. Also described are methods of preparing curable silsesquioxane polymer, articles comprising curable or cured compositions comprising the silsesquioxane polymers, and methods of curing.
