A system for correcting a steering offset generated by an active steering system of a vehicle includes a vehicle comprising a pair of steered road wheels. The system also includes a controller configured to direct a change to an angle of the steered road wheels when a determined steering state of the vehicle is a steering slowly state.

Systems and methods for correcting steering offsets

A method for automatically assessing the risk of collision between a vehicle and an object includes determining a danger value characteristic of the risk of collision on the basis of the relative position and the relative speed between the vehicle and the object. A braking danger value is determined based on the current distance between the vehicle and a last possible ('last-chance') position at which it is possible to avoid a collision between the vehicle and the object by braking the vehicle, and a steering danger value is determined based on the current distance between the vehicle and a last possible ('last-chance') position at which it is possible to avoid a collision between the vehicle and the object by steering the vehicle. The risk of collision is assessed on the basis of the braking danger value and the second danger value.

Method for automatically assessing a risk of collision between a vehicle and an object

A system for correcting a steering offset generated by an active steering system of a vehicle may include a steering wheel angle sensor and a controller configured to receive a signal from the steering wheel angle sensor. The controller may be configured to determine a steering state based on the signal, and, subject to the determined steering state, calculate an offset reduction factor based on the signal to determine a new steering offset.

A method for detecting moving objects in the area surrounding a vehicle by means of a vehicle-mounted sensor system having separate detection zones between which there is at least one detection gap. A crossover of an object between two detection zones across a detection gap is bridged by prediction by means of a transfer algorithm. Detected objects are classified according to type and the transfer algorithm is a movement model selected to match the determined object type and according to which the object is expected to move through the gap and which comprises a probability of the object being located in the gap. The probability is calculated from location and movement variables of the vehicle and of the detected object. The probability further takes into account any features in the roadway section that may permit the object to enter and/or exit the roadway directly into/out of the detection gap.

Method for locating an object in a blind-spot of a vehicle

A method and device for regulating the speed of a motor vehicle, wherein an electronic device a) compares deceleration of a vehicle with a threshold value immediately after a driver switches off a cruise control system and b), if the deceleration exceeds the threshold value, sends a torque demand signal to a powertrain component to reduce the vehicle deceleration to the threshold value or below. The electronic device may further c) compare vehicle acceleration with a second threshold value when the driver switches off the cruise control system, and d), if the acceleration exceeds the second threshold value, send a braking demand signal to a vehicle brake to reduce the vehicle acceleration to the second threshold value or lower.

Motor vehicle cruise control with deceleration reduction

A method for operating an active steering system of a vehicle, in which a ratio between a wheel steer angle and a steering wheel angle specified by the driver can be modified by superimposition of a superimposition angle. The method comprises detecting an offset between a requested motor angle and an actual motor angle, and reducing the offset between the requested motor angle and the actual motor angle using a reduction rate that is selected as a function of at least one input variable specified by the driver.
