A process of synthesizing a solid state lithium ion conductor includes mechanically milling at least two precursors so as to form crystalline LiMgBr. For instance, the mechanical milling can be carried out using a planetary mill. Moreover, in a practical application, the precursors include LiBr and MgBr.

Lithium-ion conductor

Lithium sulfur batteries are described, especially ones that are flexible for wearing about an appendage of a wearer. Such batteries have a lithium metal anode, a sulfur cathode comprising sulfur, a conductive carbon, a lithium supertonic solid-state conductor, and a dendritic or hyperbranched polymer binder, an electrolyte layer between the lithium metal anode and the sulfur cathode, and a current collector positioned on the sulfur cathode opposite the electrolyte layer.

Wearable lithium-sulfur battery and methods of making the same

A rechargeable lithium battery includes a lithium anode, a cathode, and a separator interposed between the lithium anode and the cathode. The separator includes a porous polymer soaked with a liquid electrolyte. The lithium battery further includes an artificial solid electrolyte interphase membrane interposed between the lithium anode and the separator. The artificial solid electrolyte interphase membrane may be a composite of a carbonaceous material, a high shear modulus conducting polymer, and a conductive additive.

Lithium batteries having artificial solid electrolyte interphase membrane for anode protection

Liquid-free lithium-air cells are provided which incorporate a solid electrolyte having enhanced ionic transport and catalytic activity. The solid electrolyte is positioned between a lithium anode and an oxygen cathode, and comprises a glass-ceramic and/or a polymer-ceramic electrolyte including a dielectric additive.

Lithium-air cells incorporating solid electrolytes having enhanced ionic transport and catalytic activity

A lithium-air cell is provided which incorporates a cathode comprised of a lithium aluminum germanium phosphate (LAGP) glass-ceramic material for facilitating an oxygen reduction reaction. The lithium-air cell further includes a lithium anode and a solid electrolyte which may be in the form of a membrane comprising LAGP glass-ceramic and/or polymer ceramic materials.
