A musical sound signal generation apparatus for producing a sound corresponding to an operated key can produce a sound of a newly-operated key even if all the musical sound signal generation means for generating a musical sound signal are in use. On producing the new sound, the apparatus prevents the players and the audience from having a sense of incongruity derived from the change in sound production. Especially, when a chord has been produced, it can maintain the state of chord production normally.

Musical sound signal generation apparatus

There is disclosed a musical sound signal generation apparatus for creating vacant channels by monaural sounding, in which a left/right balance is maintained and the total sound volume can be increased. When there is a key-on, and there is no vacant channel, a pair of channels for stereo sounding are selected, one channel of the pair of channels is released at a high rate, the panning coefficient of the other channel is changed, and a monaural sound is outputted from left and right output systems. Similarly, another pair of channels are selected, one channel of the pair of channels is released at the high rate, the panning coefficient of the other channel is changed, and the monaural sound is outputted from the left and right output systems. The L and R channels of the new key-on are assigned to two vacant channels.

A musical sound generating system which generates musical sounds having desired tone regardless of the variation of volume setting. In the musical sound generating system, the standard tone control touch curve TCstd, the maximum tone control touch curve Tcmax, and the minimum tone control touch curve TCmin when the amplification factor V is standard (a standard amplification factor Vstd), maximum, and minimum respectively are stored. If the amplification factor is higher than the standard amplification factor Vstd, an interpolation between the standard tone control touch curve TCstd and the maximum tone control touch curve TCmax is performed, and the tone control touch curve TC according to the amplification factor V is obtained. Based on the tone control touch curve, the cut-off frequency F corresponding to the velocity value Tv is determined, and then the tone of the musical sound is controlled by the low pass filter with the cut-off frequency F.

A musical sound producing device in an electronic musical instrument of stereophonic sampling system, including: an oscillator using status memory for storing each order of right and left oscillators which are being used for sound production, in accordance with an order of the sound production; a number-of-produced-sound memory register for storing each number of stereophonic sounds and a monophonic sound which are being produced at the same time by the oscillators memorized in the oscillator using status memory; and an oscillator assigning section for performing calculation in accordance with the numbers of the stereophonic sounds and the monophonic sound stored in the number-of-produced-sound memory register, switching at least one stereophonic sounds being produced over to monophonic sound, by damping an oscillator, when a musical sound is newly keyed on under a condition that the number of oscillators which are being used reaches a total number of oscillators, and assigning an oscillator damped by switching to produce the musical sound which is newly keyed on.

In the sound source system, the waveform sampled from the sounds of keys pressed down with two or more kinds of intensity are synthesized in a specified rate, thereby forming the waveform of the sounds of keys pressed down with the other kind of intensity. Thus, almost the actual instrumental deep sounds can be reproduced. The sound waveform sampled from weak key presses is passed through a low pass filter, and the filtered waveform composed only of low order harmonic components is transformed to weak press data in the pulse code modulation system for the storage. Similarly, the sound waveform sampled from strong key presses are passed through a high pass filter, thereby removing the low order harmonic components. The filtered waveform composed only of the high order harmonic components are transformed to strong press data in the pulse code modulation system for the storage. The high pass filter can remove the frequency components which pass through the low pass filter. By mixing the weak and strong press data in the rate determined by the key press intensity, the sound waveform signal of optional key press intensity is formed.

A tone signal generating apparatus, including a memory for storing wave data containing frequency components within a full band; a tone generator for reading the wave data from the memory in accordance with key ON/OFF data to generate a tone signal; a velocity generator for generating a velocity value based on key ON/OFF data; a first coefficient processor for producing a first coefficient to control the amplitude in accordance with the velocity value generated by the velocity generator; a first operator for performing an operation on the first coefficient produced by the first coefficient processor and the tone signal generated by the tone generator, a filter for extracting frequency components within a specific band from the tone signal output from the first operator to produce a first tone signal and outputting the first tone signal; a second coefficient processor for producing a second coefficient to control the amplitude in accordance with the velocity value generated by the velocity generator; and a second operator for performing an operation on the second coefficient produced by the second coefficient processor and the tone signal produced by the tone generator to obtain a second tone signal and outputting the second tone signal.
