A resin composition contains poly(lactic acid) and a cellulosic ester, a resin composition excellent in transparency, mechanical properties, and thermostability; a biaxially drawn film containing poly(lactic acid) and at least one compound selected from cellulosic esters, poly(meth)acrylates, and polyvinyl compounds having a glass transition temperature of 60&#xb0; C. or higher; and a biaxially drawn film excellent in transparency, mechanical properties, and thermostability. The resin composition is obtained by melt-kneading a poly(lactic acid) polymer with a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 or higher and a cellulosic ester; a resin composition excellent in transparency and having luminous transmittance of 40% or higher for visible light with 400 nm; a molded article and a film made of the resin composition; a poly(lactic acid) biaxially drawn film containing a poly(lactic acid) polymer with a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 or higher and at least one compound selected from cellulosic esters, poly(meth)acrylates, and polyvinyl compounds having a glass transition temperature of 60&#xb0; C. or higher; a poly(lactic acid) biaxially drawn film excellent in transparency and having film haze of 10% or lower.

Disclosed are a resin composition comprising a polylactic acid resin and a polyacetal resin, and such a resin composition in which the polylactic acid resin and the polyacetal resin are kept miscible with each other. The resin composition has good moldability, workability, mechanical properties, heat resistance and transparency, and may be worked into moldings, films and fibers for practical use.

A polymer alloy of polyphenylene sulfide resin and a polyester resin with polyethylene terephthalate as a main component, and forming a co-continuous structure with a wavelength of concentration fluctuation of 0.001 to 1 &#x3bc;m or a dispersed structure with a distance between particles of to 1 &#x3bc;m. The co-continuous structure or dispersed structure of the polymer alloy is formed by the phase separation caused by spinodal decomposition. The polymer alloy is miscible when the shear rate is kept in a range from 100 to 10000 sec, and is separated into phases under no shear flow. The polymer alloy of this invention can provide a molded article, film, fibers and the like respectively with excellent mechanical properties at high productivity.

This invention is a method for manufacturing a polymer alloy, by making at least two resins used as components miscible, and inducing the spinodal decomposition for causing phase separation, for forming a co-continuous structure with a wavelength of concentration fluctuation of 0.001 to 1 &#x3bc;m or a dispersed structure with a distance between particles of 0.001 to 1 &#x3bc;m. This invention is also a polymer alloy manufactured by the method. The polymer alloy of this invention can provide a molded article, film, fibers and the like respectively with excellent mechanical properties at high productivity.

A flame-retardant polybutylene terephthalate resin composition wherein (A) 20-70% by weight of a polybutylene terephthalate resin or a mixture of a polybutylene terephthalate resin and a polyethylene terephthalate resin, (B) 1&#x2013;20% by weight of a vinyl based resin, (C) 1&#x2013;20% by weight of a phosphoric acid ester, (D) 1&#x2013;30% by weight of a salt of a triazine based compound and cyanuric acid or isocyanuric acid, and (E) 0.1&#x2013;5% by weight of an alkaline earth metal compound are compounded, and formed articles thereof have high degrees of flame retardancy and tracking resistance, and are unlikely to allow occurrence of metal pollution or deterioration in hydrolysis resistance due to a phosphoric acid ester, and therefore are suitable for machine component parts, electrical/electronic component parts, and automotive component parts.

Flame-retardant polybutylene terephthalate resin composition and formed article

A polyester composition prepared by melting and blending a polyester with a glycidyl ester compound, a glycidyl ether compound and a catalyst has good hydrolysis resistance and, when melted, gives little gas generation and undergoes little viscosity change. It is most favorable for parts of automobile, electric and electronic appliances such as connectors.

Disclosed is a polyamide resin composition, a method for producing the composition, and articles from the composition. The polyamide resin composition polyamide resin composition is formed by melt-kneading (A) 100 parts by weight of nylon resin, and (B) 5-150 parts by weight of at least one of a non-fibrous inorganic filler having an average particle diameter of 0.05-10 &mgr;m and a fibrous inorganic filler, excluding glass fiber, having a fiber diameter of 0.05-10 &mgr;m. In the polyamide resin composition, an amount of a polyamide resin component deposit remaining on the inorganic filler when the inorganic filler is recovered by dissolving the polyamide resin composition into hexafluoroisopropanol is at least 4 g/m per unit surface area of the inorganic filler measured by a BET method. The nylon resin composition is excellent in rigidity and toughness and particularly excellent in high-speed surface impact fracture characteristic. The resin composition also achieve excellent surface external appearance and excellent dimensional stability in good balance in a formed article. The resin composition can suitably be formed by injection forming, extrusion, blow forming and the like, into various vehicular exterior parts, under-hood formed parts for motor vehicles, portable device casings and the like.
