A compressor includes a housing for accommodating a compression mechanism, and an oil separator including a cylindrical body having inner and outer cylinders defining therebetween an annular oil separating chamber and fixed in a communication passage of the housing. The outer cylinder is spaced from a communication passage-forming portion of the housing to define a gap therebetween, extends along a slit formed in the communication passage-forming portion of the housing, and is formed with an opening directed tangential to the oil separating chamber and facing part of the slit. Gas discharged from the compression mechanism flows through the slit and the opening into the oil separating chamber to form a swirl flow, so that lubricating oil is centrifugally separated from the gas. Part of the gas collies with an outer face of the outer cylinder, whereby lubricating oil is separated from the gas.

Compressor

A swash plate compressor comprises a swash plate rotated by a drive shaft and a piston that reciprocates in a cylinder bore by the rotation of the swash plate. The piston includes a tail and a pair of shoes retained in the tail. The shoes sandwich an outer periphery of the swash plate. Each shoe has a receiving face for receiving the outer periphery of the swash plate. A central point of the receiving face is located off a common plane including an axis of the piston and that of the drive shaft.

A swash type compressor includes sleeves which are fixedly fitted in cylinder bores. The lengths of the sleeves in an axial direction are greater than the lengths of the cylinder bores in the axial direction. A sleeve end of each of the sleeves is flush with an end surface of a cylinder block defining the cylinder bores. The opposite sleeve end of the sleeve extends beyond the cylinder bore and away from the opposite end surface of the cylinder block.

In a scroll compressor in which a movable scroll is placed between a housing and a fixed scroll to define a compression chamber in cooperation with the fixed scroll, an Oldham ring slidably interposed between the housing and the movable scroll to regulate a motion of the movable scroll. The Oldham ring has a space forming a back pressure chamber between the housing and the movable scroll. The movable scroll has a through hole allowing the compression chamber to communicate with the back pressure chamber.

A swash plate-type compressor includes a cylinder block having a plurality of cylinder bores formed therethrough, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the cylinder block, and a swash plate rotatably mounted on the drive shaft. The compressor also includes a plurality of pistons, each of which is positioned within one of the cylinder bores and reciprocates within the cylinder bore. Each of the pistons includes a substantially semispherical cavity formed at an end of the piston. The compressor further includes a pair of shoes positioned between each of the pistons and the swash plate. Each shoe includes a substantially flat surface adapted to be in slidable contact with the swash plate, and a substantially semispherical portion adapted to rotatably engage the semispherical cavity of the piston. Moreover, the semispherical portion of the shoe includes a saddle portion or a groove having a first curved portion and a non-circular perimeter.

Swash plate-type compressors

A swash plate-type, variable displacement compressor according to the present invention has a structure wherein the shoe holding portion of the piston sandwiches the swash plate from inside. The swash plate is connected to the rotor by a pin which extends in a direction tangential to a surface of a virtual cylinder around an axis of the drive shaft so as to be capable of swinging with respect to the pin. Especially, the position of the pin in the axial direction of the drive shaft is selected, so that a piston top clearance of a piston which is in a top dead center position becomes zero. By this configuration, the piston top clearance of all the pistons may be maintained at zero for all oblique angles of the swash plate. As a result, for any oblique angle, the volumetric efficiency of the compressor may be improved.

A scroll-type compressor includes a fixed and an orbiting scroll each having an end plate. A ball coupling means preventing the orbiting scroll from rotating, includes a first race and a second race and a plurality of balls. The balls are engaged between ball rolling grooves on the first race and ball rolling grooves on the second race. Each of an interior circular portion and an exterior circular portion of the first race and the second race is connected to the orbiting scroll and the front housing. Each of a clearance is created between the first race and the orbiting scroll, and between the second race and the front housing. The structure for the scroll-type compressor according to this invention may reduce the number of parts compared to known scroll-type compressor, and may maintain stability of an orbital motion of an orbiting scroll, when thrust load is high.

In a scroll compressor in which a movable scroll member (4) is eccentrically spaced from a fixed scroll member (5) and rotatably holds an eccentric bush (3) having a bush hole (30) inserted with a crank pin (110) of a crank shaft (10), the eccentric bush is movable in a radial direction of the crank pin and is guided by a guide pin (11) fixed to the eccentric bush. A pin hole (1110) is formed to penetrate the crank pin in the radial direction. The guide pin extends through the pin hole in the radial direction. Movement of the eccentric bush is guided with the guide pin being cooperated with the pin hole.
