A method is provided for identifying a spinning rotor on a rotor spinning machine, wherein the spinning rotor is mounted in a suspended manner in a radially acting magnetic bearing during a spinning operation. At least one system variable that varies between different spinning rotors is identified. The system variable is detected and compared to at least one reference value. The system variable is one or a combination of: an energy consumption of the magnetic bearing; a radial position of the spinning rotor; or a resonant frequency of the spinning rotor. A rotor spinning machine that carries out the method is also provided.

A method is provide for the safe starting and/or stopping of a rotor of a rotor spinning machine for the production of yarn, the spinning machine having a multiple number of rotors that rotate in a respective rotor housing covered by a lid. Each rotor is driven by its own motor and is held in at least one radially and/or axially active magnetic bearing by means of a position controller. Each motor is in communication with a control unit through a data connection to control the rotor in various operating states. One or more of the following conditions is checked against predetermined target values or states: (1) control for the drive of the rotor; (2) position control for the active magnetic bearings; (3) data connection for controlling the motor. In the event that the predetermined target values or states are not met, start of the rotor is blocked or the motor that is already running is selectively stopped.

A rotor spinning machine and associated method are provided for preparing a yarn end for spinning-in at a rotor spinning device, wherein the rotor spinning machine has a rotor housing that is closable with a cover and subjected to negative pressure through a negative pressure channel. A spinning rotor is rotatably mounted in the rotor housing and rotates with an operating rotational speed during a spinning operation. With the method, the yarn end is introduced into the negative pressure channel. The yarn end is then interrupted with a severing structure defined on an open edge of the rotating spinning rotor. During the interruption of the yarn end, the spinning rotor is driven with a defined rotational speed for the preparation of the yarn end that is equal to or less than an operating rotational speed of the spinning rotor.

A magnetic bearing for the mounting of a shaft, in particular for a spinning rotor of an open-end spinning device, features several pole shanks of a stator for the active radial magnetic mounting of the shaft in two degrees of freedom, which in each case are surrounded by a coil and are radially arranged to each other, in such a manner that they define an opening for the shaft. In the area of the opening, the pole shanks are connected to each other. For the passive axial mounting of the shaft, at least one permanent magnet is arranged between the coils and the opening. The invention also includes a shaft for mounting with at least one corresponding magnetic bearing. The shaft is a composite component, which at least partially consists of non-ferromagnetic material. In the area of the radial and axial mounting, a component made of a ferromagnetic material is arranged. A shaft mounting is also provided and features, for the passive axial mounting of one degree of freedom of the shaft and for the active radial mounting of two degrees of freedom of the shaft, at least one, preferably two, corresponding magnetic bearings.

A method is provided for monitoring at least one yarn quality parameter and/or a parameter of a sensor by an electronic cleaner of yarn by means of an optical detector comprising a sensor with one or two rows of individual optical elements. The individual optical elements provide at their outputs an analog signal proportional to the intensity of its irradiation, the value of which is monitored during each measurement cycle. In the first and/or the second row of optical elements of the sensor, for each monitored parameter, individual optical elements of the sensor, are selected constituting an active zone for monitoring a particular parameter. The number of the optical elements in one active zone in one row is lower than the overall number of the optical elements in the corresponding row, and the output analog signal of the individual optical elements of the corresponding active zone is included in the evaluation of the particular parameter.

A method and sensor are provided for monitoring the quality of yarn by an electronic cleaner of yarn by means of an optical detector having a sensor with one or two rows of individual optical elements that are rectangular-shaped and have analog outputs. Each of the optical elements has a photodiode and an amplifier of its output signal. The amplifier has a variable amplification, whose size is modified according to the required sensitivity of a respective optical element to light.
