A cable distribution system is provided wherein a feeder cable with one or more feeder fibers is received by a distribution device or box. The feeder fibers are terminated to a fiber optic connector. Customers can directly connect to the connectors of the feeder cable through an adapter and a mating connector for a point-to-point connection. Alternatively, a splitter input can be connected to one or more of the connectors of the feeder cable, such as through a pigtail extending from the splitter, wherein the splitter splits the signal as desired into a plurality of outputs. The outputs of the splitters can be in the form of connectors or adapters. Customers can connect to the splitter outputs through a mating connector (and an adapter if needed).

Cable distribution system

A cable fixation device () includes a base () with fastener holes (), an upright () projecting from the base and including a fixation projection () having a reduced dimensional portion () for receiving a cable tie (). Protrusions () are provided for engaging the cable jacket. Variations on the cable fixation device include a fixation element () which can slide and/or rotate about a vertical rod; a plate element () which includes a plurality of fixation projections extending between two rods; and a plurality of uprights () integrally formed with the base and including forwardly and rearwardly projecting projections. The base () and the fixation projections () can be made from molded plastic.

Cable fixation devices and methods

Example wall outlets include a base; a spool arrangement that mounts to the base; and a cable wound around the spool arrangement at the drum region. The base includes a mounting wall and a sidewall. The base defines a port and defines a first annular perimeter. The spool arrangement is rotatable relative to the base. The spool arrangement includes a drum region, a management region, and an aperture extending between the drum region and the management region. The drum region is enclosed by the sidewall of the base and the management region extends outwardly beyond the base. The cable has a first end extending through the aperture and terminated at a first fiber optic ferrule held at the management region. The cable also has a second end that extends through the port defined in the base and is terminated at a second fiber optic ferrule disposed external of the base.

Deploying optical fibers within a multi-dwelling unit

A cable element attachment system () attaches cable elements () to an entrance/exit location () of an enclosure (). The system includes a base () and a clamp (). The base attaches to the entrance/exit location and includes at least one slot (), first gripping features (), and a first attachment feature (). The slot extends to an open end (). The clamp includes second gripping features () positioned opposite of the first gripping features. Each of the gripping features grips the cable elements. The clamp further includes a second attachment feature () that attaches the clamp to the first attachment feature. The entrance/exit location may include a seal arrangement () that seals the cable elements to the entrance/exit location. The gripping features may deform the cable element both around its circumference and along its path and thereby retain the cable element.
