A sweating simulator has a foundation panel (), a panel () and a temperature control panel (), a fixture for fixing a specimen, a container () for holding simulated sweat, a container () for collecting the simulated sweat, and a plurality of weighing scales for measuring masses of the simulated sweat supplied, evaporated and dripped from the specimen, respectively. The panel () and temperature control panel () constitute a simulated sweating plane for simulating wetting properties and temperature of skin. An upper middle position of the temperature control panel () has a sweating zone (), which has a plurality of sweating pores (). The temperature control panel () has a temperature sensor () and a heating element to control the temperature of the temperature control panel () around 33-35° C. to simulate the temperature of the human skin surface. The sweating rate of the sweating zone () is in the range of about 1 to 624 ml/h or about 0.004 to 2.5 L/h-mto simulate various sweating intensities.

Sweating simulator

A fabric having moisture management function, which has a structure simulating plant structure and comprises at least two layers as follows: a bottom layer, which is of a leno or matt structure simulating main stem of plant, in which a number of yarns are grouped together to form a plurality of fabric units; said bottom layer can be adapted to be in contact with human skin; a top layer, which is of a plain weave structure, in which the yarns of said fabric unit further split in the top layer to form such a plain weave structure, simulating the branching in plant structure; wherein, in said fabric, water can be transported from the bottom layer to the middle layer and further to the top layer where it evaporates due to the improved capillarity of the yarns so as to provide better moisture management function.

A thermal manikin has a closed perforated rigid frame covered by a breathable fabric extending over the frame and forming arms and legs. Water passages and a pump inside the manikin direct water around the manikin to simulate natural blood flow. The manikin is provided with a controller and sensor for measuring conditions inside and outside the manikin that enables simultaneous determination of Clo (thermal resistance of clothing placed on the manikin) and Im (the permeability index of the clothing).
