Disclosed is a method of welding dissimilar metals, including: preparing a dissimilar metal bus bar composed of a plate-shaped first member made of a first metal and a plate-shaped second member made of a second metal disposed under the first member; folding one side of the dissimilar metal bus bar so that a portion of the second member is located on a portion of the first member; welding a lead made of the first metal on the first member; and welding a lead made of the second metal to the second member located on the portion of the first member, thus solving cracking or corrosion problems of a conventional welding process and also welding an over-lay clad metal with leads, thereby generating economic benefits and increasing the convenience of the welding process.

Disclosed are a method of welding a metal tab of an electrode layer for a cable battery and an electrode manufactured thereby. This welding method, suitable for welding a metal tab to an electrode including a current collector for a cable battery, a conductive layer formed on the outer surface of the current collector, and a polymer film layer formed on the inner surface of the current collector, includes: a) removing a portion of the conductive layer using a pulse laser, thus exposing the surface of the current collector positioned thereunder, and b) welding a metal tab to the surface of the current collector, thus enabling the welding of a metal tab and an electrode for a cable battery, which has been difficult to achieve using a conventional welding process.

A prismatic secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having a cathode, an anode, and a separator mounted in a prismatic battery case in a sealed state, the battery case including a hexahedral case body open at the top thereof, the hexahedral case body being made of a metal material, and a case cap coupled to the open top of the case body, the case cap having an electrode terminal, wherein the case body is provided at a region exhibiting a stress distribution equivalent to 40% or less of the maximum stress of the case in a high pressure state with a line-shaped safety groove configured to be ruptured when high pressure occurs in the battery, and the safety groove is configured such that a residual thickness of the case body is decreased toward the middle from opposite ends of the safety groove in the longitudinal direction.

Provided is a method for fabrication of a jelly-roll type electrode assembly having a cathode/separation membrane/anode laminate structure, including: (a) coating both sides of a porous substrate with organic/inorganic composite layers, each of which includes inorganic particles and an organic polymer as a binder, so as to fabricate a composite membrane; and (b) inserting one end of a sheet laminate comprising a cathode sheet and an anode sheet as well as the composite membrane into a mandrel, winding the sheet laminate around the mandrel, and then, removing the mandrel, wherein the organic/inorganic composite layer includes microfine pores capable of moderating a variation in volume during charge/discharge of a secondary battery and an interfacial friction coefficient between the composite membrane and the mandrel is not more than 0.28.
