According to certain embodiments, an electronic device comprises: a communication module; at least one processor; and a memory electrically connected to the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores instructions, that when executed, cause the at least one processor to perform a plurality of operations, the plurality of operations comprising: determining whether a packet received through the communication module satisfies at least one packet filtering rule, transmitting the packet directly to a user address space allocated to the memory, bypassing a network stack included in a kernel address space allocated to the memory, when the packet satisfies the at least one packet filtering rule, and transmitting the packet to the user address space through the network stack included in the kernel address space allocated to the memory when the packet does not satisfy the at least one packet filtering rule.

Electronic device for controlling packet transmission, and operating method thereof

Various embodiments provide a communication method for an electronic device comprising a processor, a first modem for a first communication network, and a second modem for a second communication network, the communication method comprising the steps of: determining to operate in a second modem-dedicated mode for communication with the second communication network without being linked to the first modem, in an interworking mode for communication with the second communication network by linking the second modem and the first modem; turning off the first modem and rebooting the second modem; and setting a data path between the rebooted second modem and the processor. An electronic device includes a wireless communication modem; a processor; a volatile memory configured to be operatively connected to the processor; and a non-volatile memory configured to store at least one application program and to be operatively connected to the processor. The non-volatile memory may be configured to store, when executed, instructions that cause the processor to transmit and receive first data packets to and from the communication modem and to provide a network device interface including at least one first parameter related to processing of the first data packets, to receive requirement information related to the operation of the application program, and to adjust values of the at least one first parameter based on at least a part of the requirement information, and cause the network device interface to transmit and receive the first data packets using at least some of the adjusted values of the first parameters.

Disclosed is an electronic device including a wireless communication modem, at least one processor connected with the communication modem and comprising a plurality of cores, and a nonvolatile memory operatively connected with the processor, wherein the nonvolatile memory stores instructions that cause a first core of the processor to receive first data packets having a first size from the wireless communication modem, and to transmit at least a portion of the first data packets to a second core of the processor, and that cause the second core to receive the at least a portion of the first data packets from the first core, to merge the at least a portion of the first data packets into a plurality of second data packets having sizes larger than the first size, based at least in part on a type of the first data packets, and to transmit the second data packets to at least one other core of the processor than the first core and the second core.
