A regenerative braking control system includes at least one sensor adapted to sense a front tire impact event and transmit a sensor signal responsive to the front tire impact event during vehicle braking and a regenerative powertrain interfacing with the at least one sensor and adapted to reduce regenerative braking torque responsive to receiving the sensor signal from the at least one sensor. A regenerative braking control method is also disclosed.

Methods and apparatus to control braking of a vehicle during low deceleration operations are disclosed. A disclosed apparatus includes a controller configured to determine a deceleration of a vehicle, compare the deceleration to a threshold, and modulate, at a predetermined frequency, a brake pressure of the vehicle in response to the deceleration being below the threshold.

A regenerative braking control method. An illustrative embodiment of the method includes selecting a vehicle speed at onset of transition from regenerative braking to friction braking of a vehicle, comparing the vehicle speed to a threshold value, applying a delayed regenerative braking torque ramp out to a hybrid powertrain and sending an undelayed regenerative braking torque ramp-out signal to a vehicle brake controller without at onset of transition from regenerative braking to friction braking of the vehicle if the vehicle speed falls below the threshold value.

Enhanced regenerative braking control method for brake booster pressure build-up delay compensation

A vehicle includes a brake-by-wire system that delivers a certain amount of brake fluid pressure to wheel brakes depending upon the position of a brake pedal. A brake-by-wire fallback or backup mode of operation is also provided. When activated, this by-wire fallback mode commands a certain, known magnitude of brake pressure. The commanded amount of brake pressure can vary based on the state of a brake pedal on/off switch, and can be set regardless of brake pedal position. This provides a backup to the brake-by-wire system without necessarily requiring a mechanical push-through backup system to brake the vehicle in the event a backup mode is required.

By-wire fallback braking mode for brake-by-wire systems in vehicles

A vehicle regenerative braking control system includes a brake pedal; a brake pedal angle sensor interfacing with the brake pedal; a vehicle braking system interfacing with the brake pedal angle sensor, the vehicle braking system adapted to implement friction braking and regenerative braking responsive to receiving a brake pedal angle input signal from the brake pedal angle sensor; and at least one of a brake pedal switch and a brake master cylinder pressure sensor interfacing with the brake pedal and the vehicle braking system. The vehicle braking system is further adapted to implement friction braking and regenerative braking responsive to input from the at least one of a brake pedal switch and a brake master cylinder pressure sensor in the event that the vehicle braking system does not receive the brake pedal angle input signal from the brake pedal angle sensor. A regenerative braking control method is also disclosed.
