Methods and systems are described for optimizing engine restarts. In one aspect, the system includes an engine, a brake pedal sensor, and a controller. The controller is configured to shut off the engine when a vehicle stops during an Idle Stop and Go (ISG) operation. The controller operates the engine to shut off during the ISG operation in response to detecting the vehicle being stopped. The controller detects a driving condition indicating that the engine is required to be on. The controller operates the engine to turn on based on the driving condition. The controller detects force satisfying a second threshold at the brake pedal based on the brake pedal sensor. The controller operates the engine to maintain an engine-off state in response to detecting force satisfying the second threshold at the brake pedal based on the brake pedal sensor.

Apparatus and method for optimizing engine restarts

Methods and systems are described for vehicle coasting optimization. The system may include a vehicle having an engine, a drivetrain, and an accelerator. The system may include selecting a fuel-saving mode based on an anticipated braking requirement in response to detecting the vehicle is non-stationary and the accelerator is disengaged. The system may include generating an instruction corresponding the selected fuel-saving mode, wherein the instruction is configured to control at least the engine and the drivetrain.

Vehicle coasting optimization

A vehicle travel control system for a vehicle may include: a launch profile generator to generate a target torque profile or a target speed profile based on monitored driving information of a host vehicle and a target vehicle; and a controller to control a speed or an acceleration of the host vehicle based on the generated profile. In particular, the launch profile generator analyzes an intention of a driver of the host vehicle when the driver intervenes at least one of the speed, acceleration or deceleration of the host vehicle being controlled, and the launch profile generator further revises the target torque profile or the target speed profile when the analyzed intention represents preferences of the driver such that the controller controls the host vehicle based on the revised profile.

Vehicle travel control system and control method therefor

Methods and systems are described for engine idle speed optimization. A system may include determining whether a fuel intake rate indicative of an amount of fuel consumed by an idling engine over time satisfies a threshold in comparison to a reference fuel intake rate. The reference fuel intake rate may be indicative of a predetermined amount of fuel consumed by the idling engine over time. The system may adjust a predetermined minimum speed at which the engine idles in response to determining that the fuel intake rate satisfies the threshold.

A vehicle travel control system for a vehicle may include: a braking profile generator to generate a brake pressure profile or a target speed profile based on monitored driving information of a host vehicle and a target vehicle; and a controller to control a speed or a deceleration of the host vehicle based on the generated profile. In particular, the braking profile generator analyzes an intention of a driver of the host vehicle when the driver intervenes at least one of the speed or deceleration of the host vehicle being controlled, and the braking profile generator further revises the target speed profile or brake pressure profile when the analyzed intention represents preferences of the driver such that the controller controls the host vehicle based on the revised profile.
