A hill hold decay (HDD) system of a vehicle. The system includes a longitudinal acceleration sensor, a wheel speed sensor, a brake pedal detector, a gas pedal detector, a gear sensor, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine the vehicle has come to a standstill, determine a slope of the ground the vehicle is on, determine a direction of travel of the vehicle is downhill, detect a release of a brake release a brake force applied to a plurality of wheels of the vehicle at a constant first rate, determine a speed of the vehicle has reached a minimum threshold, release the brake force at a second rate as long as the speed of the vehicle is increasing, determine the speed of the vehicle has reached a maximum threshold, and release the brake force.

Hill hold decay

A mechanism for reducing brake noise during braking of a vehicle. The mechanism includes controllers and methods that 'hold' a currently applied braking torque rather than applying the operator-requested braking torque when a vehicle is traveling at a low speed and the operator-requested braking torque is within a predetermined range. The controllers and methods 'release' the previously &#x201c;held&#x201d; braking torque and apply the operator-requested braking torque once the operator-requested braking torque is outside the predetermined range.

Reducing brake noise during low pressure braking

A system and method of controlling a towing vehicle adapted to be connected to a trailer at a hitch. The method includes sensing a plurality of vehicle conditions indicative of at least a movement of the towing vehicle, and an angle of the towing vehicle, determining a disturbance at the hitch based on data including at least the movement of the vehicle and the angle of the vehicle, and generating a compensation signal based on the determined disturbance at the hitch.

Method and system of controlling a vehicle in the presence of a disturbance

A system and method of detecting a vehicle trailer. The method includes sensing a first vehicle condition that indicates a movement of the vehicle, and sensing a second vehicle condition that indicates an angle of the vehicle. The method also includes determining a disturbance from the movement and the angle of the vehicle, and detecting a trailer presence when the determined disturbance is above a threshold.

Trailer presence detection system and method

A system and method for estimating an operating parameter of a vehicle such as the steering angle offset or body slip angle. The method includes providing a dynamic vehicle model which is valid when the yaw rate and slip angle of the vehicle are either constant or changing. The vehicle model is reformulated to allow for the direct estimation of the steering angle offset value and/or the body slip angle. Estimation of an operating parameter of the vehicle may also include the use of a model difference term which is defined by the difference between a value estimated using the model and a measured value. A method for filtering the steering angle offset value is also provided. The filtering method may utilize a variable filter coefficient which varies in response to changes in the dynamic behavior of the vehicle.
