The current disclosure is regarding an electrical slip ring assembly that transmit signals, data, and power across rotary platforms, especially for high frequency applications. The high frequency slip ring assembly with through bore may include a first stage slip ring, a second stage slip ring, a gear assembly, and an internal cable assembly. Rings may have an angled notch on a circumference to break said rings and have the same diameter. The first stage slip ring and second stage slip ring may be connected in series sequence, i.e., the stator in first stage slip ring is mechanically connected with the rotor in second stage slip ring. The internal cable assembly electrically connects the brush assembly in first stage slip ring with the ring assembly in said second stage slip ring in each channel respectively.

A system of soft contacting rotational interfaces with long service life, maintenance free, and high reliability, comprises a RF rotary joint and a single channel fiber optic rotary coupler and more particularly, a system having a plurality of conductive fiber brush bundles, a fiber optical wire and a coaxial conductor for transferring RF and optical signal(s) concurrently between relatively rotatable objects.

Soft contacting rotational interface system for transmitting RF and optical signals concurrently across thereof

The current invention, by using a plurality of conductive fiber brush bundles and a coaxial line to transfer RF signal(s) between relatively rotatable objects, creates easy-maintenance, long duration a RF rotary joint with soft contacting rotational interfaces. It consists of a stationary shield conductor assembly, a stationary core conductor assembly, a rotational shield conductor assembly with a tapered round head, a rotational core conductor assembly with a tapered round head, and rotational and stationary insulating assemblies with a central bore. Both stationary and rotational shield conductor assemblies having a conductive fiber brush bundle, which further containing a plurality of hair-thin conductive filaments to form a symmetrical flexible tube. The interfaces of the core soft contacting rotational and the shield soft contacting rotational are formed between the free end portions of the conductive fiber brush bundles and the tapered round head of the rotational cone conductor and rotational shield conductor respectively.

Soft contacting rotational interface for RF rotary joint

The current invention is regarding a slip ring for transmitting high speed electrical signal across a rotating interface, especially for transmitting Ethernet data. It consists of sandwich assembly with multiple conducting plates individually sandwiched by multiple insulating spacers and a brush block assembly with multiple conducting brushes. The input Ethernet cable is attached on said sandwich assembly and the wires from input cable can be individually soldered into the central hole of each conducting plate (The wires are always off-centered in prior art). The output Ethernet cable is soldered on said brush block. Said brush block assembly and said sandwich assembly are rotatable relative to each other through bearings to form a rotational interface. As a result, high speed electrical signal can be transmitted across the rotating interface without suffering from phase shift and data distortion as in prior arts due to unequal path lengths.

Slip ring for high speed data transmission

A visually and remotely readable apparatus is provided which comprises a plurality of sensing units, a control unit and a flexible printed cable (FPC) to connect two units for exchanging information therebetween. A preferable structure of the sensing unit includes a fixed part secured to the body of the apparatus and two oppositely positioned rotatable parts, where two rotatable parts mounted on a common shaft with the fixed part arranged therebetween forming two angular position sensors. Each sensor is based on the capacitive coupling between two working surfaces of the rotatable part and the respective working surfaces of the fixed part with the electrodes are secured thereto. Two working surfaces of one part are confronted with two respective working surfaces of another part forming two working surface pair. Each sensor has two working surface pairs, one working surface pair is sensing pair for sensing angular position; another is coupling pair for coupling sensing signals. A plurality of transmitting electrodes are secured to the working surface of the sensing pair of the fixed part; a receiving electrode is secured to the working surface of the sensing pair of the rotatable part; an output electrodes is secured to the working surface of the coupling pair of the fixed part; a coupling electrode connected to the receiving electrode is secured to the working surface of the coupling pair of the rotatable part. To each of the plurality of the transmitting electrodes is applied a respective one of polyphase squarewave voltages. The capacitive coupling between the electrodes of the sensing pair is dependent on the relative positions of two rotatable part, and the output signal voltages on the output electrode which coupled from the coupling electrode represents the angular position of the rotatable part. In the first embodiment provided for the sensors, the shape of working surfaces is in a conical frustum; the second embodiment, the shape of working surfaces is a cylinder; the third embodiment, the shape of working surfaces is a disc; the fourth embodiment, with a cylinder-shaped working surface and a disk-shaped working surface, is a combination of the second and the third embodiments provided as an example of the application of the embodiments. A circuit of the control unit is provided for processing data, generating control signals for the sensors. By using radio frequency identification (RFID) technique to exchange information with the reader station outside of the apparatus and power the system are also disclosed in the invention.
