Methods of detecting a path and forwarding devices are disclosed. In an example of the present disclosure, a first forwarding device constructs a detection packet for a service flow, wherein forwarding information in a packet head of the detection packet is same as forwarding information in a packet head of the service flow; forwards the detection packet based on the forwarding information in the packet head of the detection packet; when an error controlling packet corresponding to the detection packet is received from a second forwarding device in a set time period, the first forwarding device determines an address of the second forwarding device, returns to perform a process of constructing the detection packet for the service flow; otherwise, determines the path of the service flow based on the at least one respective address of the at least one second forwarding device.

Detecting path

Methods for detecting a path, a forwarding device and a machine-readable storage medium are provided. In an example, a first forwarding device receives a first detection packet sent from a previous hop forwarding device on a path of a designated service flow and used for detecting the path of the designated service flow; the first forwarding device obtains a second detection packet by adding a device address of the first forwarding device to a payload of the first detection packet; the first forwarding device forwards the second detection packet to a next hop forwarding device on the path of the designated service flow based on forwarding information in a header of the second detection packet; and the first forwarding device sends to a SDN controller a forwarding error message in which a device address of at least one forwarding device in the payload of the first detection packet is carried.

Path detection

A routing device receives a forwarding entry for forwarding a first flow and stores it locally. When the device is a key forwarding device of a first flow, the stored forwarding entry includes first and second forwarding entries. When the device is located in a primary forwarding path but is not the key forwarding device, the stored forwarding entry comprises one forwarding entry having a priority higher than a predefined minimum value. The device receives a first flow. When the stored forwarding entry comprises one forwarding entry having a priority higher than the minimum value and a link connected to an egress port in the forwarding entry has failed, the device sets the priority of the forwarding entry as the minimum value, and returns the first flow to the key forwarding device to trigger it to forward the first flow according to the second forwarding entry.

Path switching

A forwarding path link table packet is generated, the forwarding path link table packet comprises forwarding information of each SDN switch on a forwarding path; and the forwarding path link table packet is delivered to any one of SDN switches on the forwarding path, to enable the forwarding path link table packet to be delivered among SDN switches on the forwarding path, so as to cause each SDN switch that receives the forwarding path link table packet to generate a forwarding flow table entry of the SDN switch according to the forwarding information of the SDN switch in the forwarding path link table packet, and forward the forwarding path link table packet on the forwarding path.

Forwarding path link table packet in software defined network

A SDN controller calculates forwarding paths for a traffic flow based on SDN technology. The controller determines a maximum flow rate and flow rate identify of each forwarding path, generates ingress flow table entries based on packet characteristic information of the traffic flow, the flow rate identify and an output port of an ingress node on each forwarding path, and sends the ingress flow table entries and maximum flow rate and flow rate identify to the ingress node; generates intermediate flow table entry for each intermediate node base on the packet characteristic information, flow rate identify and an and the output port of each intermediate node, and send each intermediate flow table entry to corresponding intermediate node; generates an egress flow table entry based on packet characteristic information and an output port of an egress node for sending the traffic flow, and sends the egress flow table entry to the egress node.

Generating table entry and forwarding packet in software defined network

In an example, an aggregation router encapsulates a first Console command as a control packet in an Ethernet format, determines a target branch router of the control packet, and transmits the control packet to the target branch router via an Ethernet link between the aggregation router and the target branch router, so that the target branch router can decapsulate the control packet to obtain and execute the first Console command. The aggregation router receives a feedback packet from the target branch router via the Ethernet link between the aggregation router and the target branch router, wherein the feedback packet comprises an output result obtained by the target branch router through executing the first Console command.

Router controlling

A multi-service processing method, including: configuring different cores of a multi-core processor to process different services; and sending received packets to the cores in the pre-defined service processing sequence. The multi-core processor apparatus, includes the configuration management unit, the packet distributing unit, and the multi-core processor. The method and apparatus can save investments in devices while implementing multiple service processing functions.
