An absorbent composition that is useful in the selective removal of hydrogen sulfide relative to carbon dioxide from gaseous mixtures that comprise both hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide and the use thereof. The absorbent composition includes an amine mixture of an amination reaction product of tert-butylamine with a polydispersed polyethylene glycol (PEG) mixture having an average molecular weight within a certain specified range of molecular weights. The amination reaction product may also comprise a first sterically hindered amine and a second sterically hindered amine. The absorbent composition, preferably, includes an organic co-solvent, such as a sulfone compound. A method is also provided for improving the operation of certain gas absorption processes by utilizing the absorbent composition.

Absorbent composition for the selective absorption of hydrogen sulfide

Amine compositions comprising sterically hindered amines and associated methods are provided. In some embodiments, amine compositions of the present disclosure may be useful for selective removal of HS from an acidic gas stream.

Sterically hindered amines and associated methods

An amine according to the invention has a formula(CH)NCHCHOCHCHCHN(R1)(R2)wherein R1 is selected from (CH)NCHCHOCHCHCH&#x2014; and R2 is selected from the group consisting of H&#x2014;, CH(CH)&#x2014;, HO(CH)&#x2014; and (CH)NCHCHOCHCHCH&#x2014;, n being an integer in the range of 0 to 5, m being an integer in the range of 2 to 4.

Amine suitable as PU-catalyst

The present disclosure provides a scrubbing composition containing an aqueous solution of 2-(3-aminopropoxy)ethan-1-ol. The scrubbing composition is especially suited for use in removing acid gases, such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, from gas streams.
