One or more processing circuits may obtain context information associated with a user of one or more hearing instruments, wherein the context information is based on a first set of sensor data generated by a plurality of sensors of the one or more hearing instruments and a second set of sensor data generated by a plurality of sensors of a computing device communicatively coupled to the one or more hearing instruments. The one or more processing circuits may determine, based on at least a portion of the context information, an auditory intent of the user for a given auditory context. The one or more processing circuits may associate the auditory intent with one or more actions, such as actions to adjust one or more settings of the one or more hearing instruments. The one or more processing circuits may invoke the one or more actions associated with the auditory intent.

Context-based situational awareness for hearing instruments

An example method includes capturing, via one or more sensors of a computing system, a representation of an ear of a user; determining, based on the representation, a value of a measurement of the ear of the user; and selecting, based on the value of the measurement, a length of a wire or tube of a hearing instrument to be worn on the ear of the user.

Automatic selection of hearing instrument component size

A processing system is configured to obtain data indicating answers of a user of one or more hearing instruments to a questionnaire. Additionally, the processing system is configured to determine an initial audiogram based on the answers. Furthermore, the processing system is configured to perform an initial fitting of the one or more hearing instruments based on the initial audiogram.

Self-fit hearing instruments with self-reported measures of hearing loss and listening

A reverberation condition is detected affecting an electronic hearing device. The hearing device receives sound from a microphone and provides amplified sound to an in-ear receiver. The reverberation condition is predicted to impact clarity of the amplified sound. A sound processing capability is determined that will affect the reverberation. The sound processing capability is applied to the amplified sound and includes one or more of expansion, compression, and directionality processing. In response to detecting the reverberation condition, at least one of the following is performed: enabling the sound processing capability with a reverberation mitigation setting if the sound processing capability is currently disabled; or changing the sound processing capability to the reverberation mitigation setting from a default setting if the sound processing capability is currently enabled. The reverberation mitigation setting is removed when the reverberation condition is no longer detected.

Apparatus and method for reverberation mitigation in a hearing device

Adaptive occlusion cancellation is performed in an ear-wearable device using an adaptive filter. An adaptive gain of the adaptive filter is used to determine a leakage path estimate between an external source and an eardrum of the user through the ear-wearable device. The leakage path estimate is used to update an adaptive hear-through filter of the ear-wearable device. The updated adaptive hear-through filter is used for hear-through processing in the ear-wearable device.

Apparatus and method for performing active occlusion cancellation with audio hear-through

A system includes an image sensor, a hearing device, and a controller. The controller may include one or more processors and may be operatively coupled to the image sensor and the audio sensor. The controller may be configured to receive image data from the image sensor and sound data from the hearing device. The controller may further be configured to identify one or more optical components using the image data, each of the one or more optical components associated with an object or activity; determine one or more audio objects using at least the one or more optical components and the sound data, the one or more audio objects may each include an association between at least a portion of the sound data and the object or activity; and adjust an audio class using the one or more audio objects, the audio class associated with the object or activity.

Using a camera for hearing device algorithm training

A wellness evaluation system may determine, based on data generated by a first set of sensors powered by one or more batteries of one or more ear-wearable devices, that a user of the one or more ear-wearable devices is currently in an environment that includes human-directed communication signals. If so, a second set of sensors may be activated such that the one or more batteries provides an increased amount of power to the second set of sensors. Furthermore, the wellness evaluation system may determine based on data generated by the second set of sensors, whether the user has satisfied a target level of a wellness measure. If the user has not satisfied the target level of the wellness measure, the wellness evaluation system may perform an action to encourage the user to perform one or more activities to increase an achieved level of the wellness measure.
