A wireless master device to remotely perform network speed tests on a wireless client device that is not in the possession of the user. A user interface (UI) is provided that displays a list of client devices that may be selected to be the wireless master device and a list of client devices that may be selected to perform the speed test. A start instruction is wirelessly sent to start the speed test on the selected client device. Network speed test results of the client device are received by the wireless master device and presented in the UI. The UI presents options for selecting a type of speed test to perform. The UI includes an area where messages and the test results are presented.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate the output of communications to additional emergency contacts upon the occurrence of an alarm triggering event. A central device may be configured with one or more data profiles associated with one or more emergency contacts, and each data profile may include emergency contact information associated with one or more methods for communicating a message to each respective emergency contact. When the device identifies an alert trigger within one or more communications passing through the device, the device may output one or more emergency messages to one or more of the emergency contacts according to the one or more stored data profiles.

An apparatus, method and computer readable memory comprises a voice service interface for allowing user control of a gateway. The voice service interface comprises a voice service module operable to interface with a telephonic communication device to process and receive gateway configuration entries from the user through the telephonic communication device. The voice service module is operable to transmit the gateway configuration entries to a gateway controller. The gateway configuration entries are configured to be parsed and applied to the gateway for control, configuration and/or diagnostic of the gateway. Gateway configuration entries include control function changes such as home gateway device reboot, Wi-Fi, enabling/disabling/configuration, parent control enabling/disabling/configuration, and other intended gateway functionalities.
