This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support positioning reference signal (PRS)-assisted beam management. In particular, various aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a network entity to select a beam of a plurality of beams for communications between a base station and a user equipment (UE) based on line-of-sight (LOS) path detection results. In some implementations, the LOS path detection results may include an indication as to whether a PRS includes an LOS path signal and/or an NLOS, and/or a signal strength of the LOS path signal, as well as other information that a network entity (e.g., a UE or a base station) may use in a beam management procedure (e.g., to select a beam). Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Positioning reference signals (PRS)-assisted beam management for communication

In an aspect, a location server may receive a request to determine a position of a first mobile device at a first scheduled time. The location server may determine a first position of a second mobile device during a first time window before the first scheduled time. The location server may configure the second mobile device to perform positioning operations during a second time window corresponding to the first scheduled time to assist in the determination of the position of the first mobile device at the first scheduled time.

Scheduled positioning of target devices using mobile anchor devices

Disclosed are various techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) identifies a set of positioning sources, each positioning source comprising a positioning reference signal (PRS) resource, a PRS resource set, a PRS frequency layer, and/or a transmission/reception point (TRP). From the set of positioning sources, the UE identifies a consistency group comprising a collection of positioning sources grouped based on expected values of at least one metric of a reference signal from each positioning source, measured values of the at least one metric for the reference signal from each positioning source, and an error threshold. The UE identifies one or more subsets of positioning sources within the consistency group, each subset having at least one metric error value. The UE reports, to a network entity, information about the consistency group and information about at least one of the subsets of positioning sources within the consistency group.

Prioritization of positioning-related reports in uplink

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a relative location anchor group (RLAG) may facilitate a position estimation procedure in an environment where absolute position estimation accuracy is below a threshold. An absolute position estimate derived via the RLAG may optionally be transformed to a true (or more accurate) position estimate via transformation information. In some cases, new anchors may be added to the RLAG after performing a position estimation procedure with the RLAG. In other designs, a local coordinate system (LCS) may be used for position estimation in lieu of a global coordinate system (GCS), such as WGS 84.

Techniques for detecting non-line-of-sight (NLOS) wireless signal paths are described. In some embodiments, a method thereof may include receiving positioning information from one or more networked devices, the positioning information comprising information indicative of measurements of one or more wireless signals transmitted between one or more wireless network nodes and one or more UEs, location data indicative of a location of each of the one or more UEs, or a combination thereof; determining a commonality associated with the received positioning information; and based on the determined commonality, determining that the NLOS wireless signal path is present between the given UE and the one or more wireless network nodes.

Detecting non-line-of-sight wireless signal paths

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) transmits a request for a first set of base stations to transmit on demand positioning reference signals (PRS) in a first band, measures the on demand PRS from the first set of base stations in the first band, measures periodic PRS from a second set of base stations operating in a second band, and sends, to a positioning entity, positioning measurements of at least the on demand PRS and the periodic PRS.

On demand positioning reference signals and per band deployment aspects

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for determining shared resources associated with one or more user equipments (UEs) for sidelink communications, including control resources and data resources. A first UE may transmit a sidelink request to reserve a subset of data resources to a second UE, and may monitor for one or more sidelink responses indicating a positive sidelink response to the sidelink request, a negative sidelink response to the sidelink request, or both. The second UE may transmit a positive sidelink response if it is available for a data transmission. A third UE may transmit a negative sidelink response if it objects to the data transmission. The first UE may determine, based on monitoring for the one or more sidelink responses, whether to transmit a sidelink confirmation indicating a reservation of the subset of the data resources to the second UE.

Distributed sidelink resource allocation

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a failure event for a beam or a link, between the UE and a base station, is occurring or will occur, and transmit a message to the base station indicating that the UE is refraining from performing a recovery procedure for the beam or a link for a time duration. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Suspension of beam or link recovery for a failure event

According to embodiments herein, assistance data may be provided to a UE regarding an anchor UE that provides a reference signal via the SL interface to the UE. Assistance data may include information indicative of the coordinates, height, drift rate, beam characteristics, group delay, and/or other aspects of the anchor UE. The assistance data may be provided to the UE by a location server, a base station, or directly from the anchor UE.

Assistance information for sidelink-assisted positioning

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a repeater receives, from a network entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration or an indicator of the PRS configuration, the PRS configuration specifying one or more PRS resources of one or more PRS resource sets, and transmits, to one or more user equipments (UEs), a PRS waveform representing the one or more PRS resources of the one or more PRS resource sets in accordance with the PRS configuration.

Resource allocation for repeater-assisted positioning reference signal (PRS) transmission

Techniques are provided in which changes to a bandwidth part (BWP) of a target user equipment (UE) are restricted during a processing window (PW) for measuring and processing reference signal (RS) resources. These BWP change restrictions may be implemented by employing any combination of (i) ensuring a serving base station will not reconfigure or switch the BWP during the PW, (ii) ensuring the UE suspends a BWP inactivity timer of current BWP, (iii) ensuring the numerology and/or bandwidth (BW) of the BWP do not change, and/or (iv) preventing a change to an overlapping spectrum between the BWP and a spectrum of the RS resources.

Measurement behavior in a processing window

Aspects presented herein may improve the performance and accuracy of RF-based positioning. Aspects presented herein may enable a device to use RF Doppler measurements to detect and mitigate multipath effects in RF-based positioning. The RF-based positioning may include satellite navigation, terrestrial positioning system, and/or indoor positioning. In one aspect, a UE receives, via a receiver, signals from one or more entities. The UE determines whether each received signal is a multipath signal based on a Doppler shift measurement. The UE de-weights or excludes one or more signals of the received signals in estimating a position of the UE based on whether the respective received signal is determined to be a multipath signal.

Using doppler for multipath detection and mitigation in RF-based positioning

Techniques are provided for utilizing sidelink communications in response to a timing source outage. An example method for utilizing sidelink communications in response to a timing source outage according to the disclosure includes detecting the timing source outage associated with a first node, determining a second node experiencing a loss of services due to least in part on the timing source outage in the first node, determining a third node with a valid timing source, determining one or more relay nodes based at least in part on a location of the second node and a location of the third node, and providing one or more services to the second node via the one or more relay nodes.

Utilizing sidelink procedures to react to timing source outages

Techniques for indicating a type of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) wireless signal path in a wireless communication network are described. In some embodiments, a method thereof may include receiving a plurality of reference signals, the plurality of reference signals originating from a respective plurality of wireless network nodes; determining at least one NLOS wireless signal path based on the plurality of reference signals; determining whether or not the at least one NLOS wireless signal path is introduced by a repeater of the wireless communication network based at least on a presence or an absence of a commonality among the plurality of reference signals; and indicating to a network entity whether the at least one NLOS wireless signal path is introduced by the repeater or not.

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support antenna configuration indicated by PRS feedback are described. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a wireless communication device, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration transmission from a network entity. The method also includes determining, by the wireless communication device, a PRS measurement report based on an antenna configuration. The method further includes transmitting, by the wireless communication device, the PRS measurement report indicating the antenna configuration.
