The disclosure includes a method for rapidly recovering the speed of TCP transmission after a cross technology handover experienced by a mobile device. In the method, the mobile device receives a sequentially first TCP data packet after the cross technology handover completes via a TCP session between the mobile device and a remote TCP server, generates a first acknowledgement (ACK) associated with the sequentially first TCP data packet, where the first ACK comprises a first Selective ACK (SACK) option, removes the first SACK option from the first ACK when a gap exists between data in the sequentially first TCP data packet and data received before the cross technology handover occurs, and sends the first ACK without the first SACK option to the remote TCP server via the TCP session. Because the ACK is without the SACK option when the gap exists, the speed of TCP transmission will be recovered rapidly.

Controlling TCP data transmission

A mobile device comprises physical layer circuitry including a transceiver configured to communicate information via the cellular communication network; a modem of the mobile device configured to: control communication according to a first cellular communication protocol standard; detect a change in the communication to a second cellular communication protocol standard different from the first cellular communication protocol standard; and communicate an indication of completion of the change in the cellular communication protocol standard; and a transport control protocol (TCP) layer of the mobile device configured to initiate transmission of three duplicate acknowledgment (ACK) packets according to the second cellular communication protocol standard in response to receiving the indication of completion of the change in the cellular communication protocol standard.

Remove TCP deadlock caused by wireless device cross technology handover

A system, method, and computer program product are provided for bi-directional communication. The system includes a first host capable of transmitting multiplexed data at a first transmission rate and operating with a first congestion window. The first host is also capable of receiving multiplexed data at a second transmission rate from a second host capable of operating with a second congestion window. The first host can be capable of configuring at least one of a size of the first congestion window and a size of the second congestion window based upon first transmission rate, the size of the second congestion window, the second transmission rate and the size of the first congestion window.
