An Advanced Antenna System (AAS) receiver and related methods are provided. According to one aspect an AAS receiver comprises a digital processing block of a Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC). The digital processing block comprises an interface for communicating with a Central Unit (CU), and a plurality of Antenna Signal Processing Blocks (ASPBs), each receiving a digitized receive signal from a respective antenna element of an antenna array. Each ASPB comprises one or more receivers, each of which receives the signal from the respective antenna element, processes the received signal, and beamforms the processed signal to produce one or more data streams to be sent to the CU. Each ASPB also includes a narrowband receiver that processes an input signal (either the signal received from the respective antenna element or that signal after processing) to create a narrowband signal that is provided to the CU directly, without beamforming.

Versatile AAS receiver

Systems and methods for efficient scheduling of Random Access Channel (RACH) occasions in a cellular communications system are provided. In one embodiment, a method performed by a base station comprises transmitting Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs) on respective transmit beams in accordance with a beam sweeping scheme. The SSBs are mapped to one or more RACH occasions in accordance with an N-to-1 mapping scheme where N is greater than 1. The method further comprises, for each RACH occasion, processing receive signals from at least a subset of antenna elements in an antenna array of the base station using respective narrowband receivers, thereby providing narrowband receive signals, and performing, based on the narrowband receive signals, random access preamble detection for multiple beam directions that correspond to at least a subset of the transmit beams on which at least a subset of the SSBs to which the RACH occasion is mapped were transmitted.

Efficient PRACH scheduling

A network node, computer program product, and a method by a network node to allocate at least two beams in a slot to schedule multiple user equipments, UEs, are provided. Each UE is allocated to a baseband port of a plurality of baseband ports such that there is more than one UE allocated to each baseband port. For each baseband port of the plurality of baseband ports: the baseband port is mapped to a polarization of an antenna having multiple polarizations and to one beam of a plurality of beams. The polarization of a baseband port is switched in a time domain to create time diversity of services towards the multiple UEs, wherein a UE is subject to a first polarization for a subset of time occasions and to a second polarization for other time occasions.

Embodiments herein relate to a method, performed by a network node, for handling of specific power reduction for a User Equipment (UE). The network node receives a message from the UE comprising an identification of a specific type of the UE. The network node obtains a reduced power applied by the UE corresponding to the received identification. The network node selects an allocation for transmissions from the UE, based on the reduced power applied by the UE. Embodiments herein further relate to a network node for performing the method for handling of specific power reduction for a UE.

The disclosure relates to a method performed in a network node of a communication system for configuring a communication device with channel state information, CSI, resources. The method comprises: configuring CSI resources for at least two sectors, the CSI resources comprising CSI reference signal, RS, resources and CSI interference measurements, IM, resources, such that the sectors are configured with same CSI IM resources, and such that each of the sectors is configured with CSI RS resources differing from the other sectors; and configuring the communication device to use a respective CSI resource configuration for each of at least two CSI processes, wherein each CSI resource configuration defines resources corresponding to resources of the configuring of a respective sector, whereby each CSI process specifies use of same CSI IM resources as the other CSI processes and CSI RS resources different from the other CSI processes.

The present disclosure concerns radio communication. In one of its aspects, the technology presented herein concerns a method performed by a base stationfor selecting a transmission rank. The method may advantageously be carried out when the base stationis operating in a shared cell. The base station receives a channel-state report from a user equipment. Also, a channel quality parameter is estimated by the base station. Furthermore, the base stationselects the transmission rank (e.g. transmission rank 1 or transmission rank 2) on the basis of the received channel-state report as well as the estimated channel quality parameter.

A controlling node for a cellular communications system, arranged to determine and transmit commands for Transmit Power Control, TPC, to one or more Mobile Terminals, MTs, in at least one cell in the system. The controlling node is arranged to classify an MT as being in one of a number of states, and to use differing methods for determining an MT's TPC command depending on which state the MT is in, so that one method is used for determining TPC commands to an MT in the active state and another method is used for determining TPC commands to an MT in the passive state.

Device and method for transmit power control

The present invention provides a method which performs an estimation of a SIR as basis for transmit power control. The SIR estimation is performed for a radio signal (u) which is transmitted from a transmitter () to a receiver () over a radio channel (). A channel estimate h and a combining weight w are first obtained (). Then an estimated SIR value is generated () based at least in part on the channel estimate h and the combining weight w. The estimated SIR value is generated such that it equals a first estimated SIR value multiplied by a numerical factor. The numerical factor is dependent on the channel estimate h and the combining weight w in a manner such that it attains a minimum value whenever the channel estimate h and the combining weight w are linearly dependent. The invention also comprises devices for carrying out the method.
