Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A group of random access channel opportunities are identified over which to transmit a preamble associated with a random access channel procedure. A preamble sequence group associated with the identified group of random access channel opportunities is determined based on a repetition level associated with the preamble sequence group. At least one downlink message associated with the random access channel procedure is received based on the repetition level.

The UE may determine, from the one or more measurement objects, a serving cell measurement object based at least in part on an active BWP of the UE, wherein the serving cell measurement object is associated with an SSB frequency in the active BWP. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration signal configuring a set of random access opportunities over which to transmit a preamble associated with a random access procedure, each random access opportunity associated with a set of one or more uplink data opportunities. The UE may select a random access opportunity from the set of configured random access opportunities for transmitting the preamble based at least in part on the repetition parameter. An apparatus is configured to operate on an active DL BWP in a source node, where the active DL BWP is not a default DL BWP associated with the UE, and start a BWP inactivity timer at the UE that triggers a BWP switch from an active DL BWP to the default DL BWP after the BWP inactivity timer expires at a first expiration time. In other aspects, a base station transmits a system information block (SIB) or RRC signaling that indicates at least one possible configuration of the TGA, and UEs determine the TGA depending on RRC state. UEs in other RRC modes determine the TGA based on the possible configuration transmitted in the SIB or RRC signaling. Advantageously, 2 step RACH UEs are able to communicate with the base station without the closed loop TA information provided by a 4 step RACH.

A network entity configures a synchronization signal block (SSB) using SSB resources that convey a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) within an SSB resource area of a resource grid bounded in time by a first configured integer number of time units and bounded in frequency by a second configured integer number of physical channels. A product of the first configured integer number and the second configured integer number is a predetermined constant value, each symbol of the SSB has an equal number of resource elements (REs), and all REs in the each symbol of the SSB, except REs within a frequency guard band between any two of the PSS, the SSS, and the PBCH in the each symbol of the SSB, have non-zero values. A user equipment receives the SSB in the SSB resources as a beamformed SSB.

Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently transmitting data and control information in a first RACH message to a base station as part of a two-step RACH procedure. In particular, rather than or in addition to transmitting data and control information in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) in the first RACH message, a user equipment (UE) may transmit the data and control information along with a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion in the first RACH message (e.g., when the number of bytes of data or control information to be transmitted is low). Using these techniques, in some instances, the UE may transmit the data and control information in a first RACH message without transmitting the PUSCH, and the overhead associated with transmitting the PUSCH may be eliminated.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration for a control resource set (CORESET) that indicates a precoder granularity unit over which a same precoding is used for resources of the CORESET. The RedCap UE is configured with multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs). A maximum bandwidth of the RedCap UE is lower than a maximum bandwidth of a non-RedCap UEs. The UE receives a cell-defining synchronization signal block (CD-SSB) that defines a shared initial downlink BWP for RedCap UEs and non-RedCap UEs. The UE switches to a separate initial downlink BWP for RedCap UEs. The UE accesses the cell via the separate initial downlink BWP. The UE receives a configuration of an active downlink BWP for RedCap UEs. The UE determines whether to switch from the active downlink BWP to the shared initial BWP or the separate initial downlink BWP to obtain information such as updated system information, system measurements, and uplink configuration information.

A UE may receive an indication of a first assignment of a first PDSCH via a PBCH from a network entity. The first PDSCH may include at least a first portion of a SIB. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently reporting channel state information (CSI) with limited overhead. In one aspect, if a user equipment (UE) is configured to transmit data and CSI to a base station periodically, the UE may transmit the CSI when the UE has data to transmit to the base station. In particular, the UE may transmit data and a CSI report during a transmission opportunity if the UE has data to transmit in the transmission opportunity. Otherwise, the UE may suppress transmission of the CSI report. In another aspect, a UE may be configured to transmit CSI to a base station when downlink channel conditions change. In particular, the UE may request to report CSI to the base station when channel conditions change, and the base station may trigger the UE to report the CSI after receiving the request.
