Apparatuses and methods for mobility enhancements and power saving considerations for UE are described. An apparatus is configured to operate on an active DL BWP in a source node, where the active DL BWP is not a default DL BWP associated with the UE, and start a BWP inactivity timer at the UE that triggers a BWP switch from an active DL BWP to the default DL BWP after the BWP inactivity timer expires at a first expiration time. The apparatus is also configured to report a measurement of at least one of the source node or a target node, and start a mobility reception timer based on a condition associated with at least one of the measurement of the source node being below a first signal quality threshold or the measurement of the target node being above a second signal quality threshold.

Mobility enhancements and power saving for user equipment communication

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a transmission gap adjustment (TGA) for a first message (msgA) of a 2 step random access channel (RACH) procedure based on measurement of a reference signal transmitted by a base station as well as the radio resource configuration (RRC) configurations for msgA. In other aspects, a base station transmits a system information block (SIB) or RRC signaling that indicates at least one possible configuration of the TGA, and UEs determine the TGA depending on RRC state. Connected mode UEs having a timing alignment (TA) timer running may determine the TGA based on a previous TA. UEs in other RRC modes determine the TGA based on the possible configuration transmitted in the SIB or RRC signaling. Advantageously, 2 step RACH UEs are able to communicate with the base station without the closed loop TA information provided by a 4 step RACH.

Open loop timing control for 2-step RACH

A network entity configures a synchronization signal block (SSB) using SSB resources that convey a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) within an SSB resource area of a resource grid bounded in time by a first configured integer number of time units and bounded in frequency by a second configured integer number of physical channels. A product of the first configured integer number and the second configured integer number is a predetermined constant value, each symbol of the SSB has an equal number of resource elements (REs), and all REs in the each symbol of the SSB, except REs within a frequency guard band between any two of the PSS, the SSS, and the PBCH in the each symbol of the SSB, have non-zero values. A user equipment receives the SSB in the SSB resources as a beamformed SSB.

Primary synchronization signal design

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently transmitting data and control information in a first RACH message to a base station as part of a two-step RACH procedure. In particular, rather than or in addition to transmitting data and control information in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) in the first RACH message, a user equipment (UE) may transmit the data and control information along with a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion in the first RACH message (e.g., when the number of bytes of data or control information to be transmitted is low). Using these techniques, in some instances, the UE may transmit the data and control information in a first RACH message without transmitting the PUSCH, and the overhead associated with transmitting the PUSCH may be eliminated.

Random access channel occasion configuration

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration for a control resource set (CORESET) that indicates a precoder granularity unit over which a same precoding is used for resources of the CORESET. The precoder granularity unit may be greater than a resource element group bundle of the CORESET and less than contiguous resource blocks of the CORESET. The UE may monitor for one or more physical downlink control channel candidates according to the configuration. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Control resource set precoding indication

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for a reduced capability (RedCap) user equipment (UE) and supporting cell. The RedCap UE is configured with multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs). A maximum bandwidth of the RedCap UE is lower than a maximum bandwidth of a non-RedCap UEs. The UE receives a cell-defining synchronization signal block (CD-SSB) that defines a shared initial downlink BWP for RedCap UEs and non-RedCap UEs. The UE switches to a separate initial downlink BWP for RedCap UEs. The UE accesses the cell via the separate initial downlink BWP. The UE receives a configuration of an active downlink BWP for RedCap UEs. The UE determines whether to switch from the active downlink BWP to the shared initial BWP or the separate initial downlink BWP to obtain information such as updated system information, system measurements, and uplink configuration information.

Selection of different initial bandwidth parts for reduced capability user equipment

A UE may receive an indication of a first assignment of a first PDSCH via a PBCH from a network entity. The first PDSCH may include at least a first portion of a SIB. The UE may receive the first portion of the SIB via the first PDSCH from the network entity based on the first assignment of the first PDSCH. The first portion of the SIB may include access control information for the network entity and the assignment for a second portion of the SIB. The UE may identify whether the UE is permitted to access the network entity based on the access control information for the network entity.

Structure of minimum SI

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a cyclic shift configuration for one or more repetitions of a non-interleaved control resource set (CORESET), and monitor for one or more physical downlink control channel candidates in the one or more repetitions of the non-interleaved CORESET based at least in part on determining the cyclic shift configuration for the one or more repetitions. Repetition specific cyclic shifting of a non-interleaved control resource set

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently reporting channel state information (CSI) with limited overhead. In one aspect, if a user equipment (UE) is configured to transmit data and CSI to a base station periodically, the UE may transmit the CSI when the UE has data to transmit to the base station. In particular, the UE may transmit data and a CSI report during a transmission opportunity if the UE has data to transmit in the transmission opportunity. Otherwise, the UE may suppress transmission of the CSI report. In another aspect, a UE may be configured to transmit CSI to a base station when downlink channel conditions change. In particular, the UE may request to report CSI to the base station when channel conditions change, and the base station may trigger the UE to report the CSI after receiving the request.

Channel state information triggering for uplink dominant traffic

In some aspects, a user equipment may transmit, to a base station, an indication of a selected random access channel (RACH) procedure that is selected based at least in part on positioning state information (PSI) associated with the UE, wherein the PSI is based at least in part on one or more positioning measurements obtained by the UE; and receive, from the base station, a configuration of resources for the selected RACH procedure. Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a UE transmits a DSS capability indication to a network entity (e.g., base station), which determines scheduling information for resources of a DSS carrier based on the DSS capability indication. In another aspect, a BS transmits RAT-specific (e.g., LTE-specific) information associated with a DL RS (e.g., LTE CRS) to a UE, which processes the DL RS on a DSS carrier based at least in part on the RAT-specific information.

Idle/inactive mode procedures for reduced capability user equipment

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for a user equipment (UE), which may include a reduced capability (RedCap) UE, and a supporting cell. The UE may receive a synchronization signal block (SSB). The UE may receive a configuration of an active downlink bandwidth part (BWP) that is not configured with a SSB. The UE may tune, from the active downlink BWP to a different frequency for a layer 1 (L1) measurement gap defined by a L1 measurement gap configuration. The UE may perform a L1 measurement of the SSB on the different frequency during the L1 measurement gap. The UE may be a RedCap UE, the active BWP may be for RedCap UEs, and the SSB may define an initial BWP for the RedCap UEs and non-RedCap UEs, and the different frequency may be the initial BWP.

This disclosure relates to methods, devices, and systems for wireless communications, and more particularly to aggregating physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource units relating to a random access message. A user equipment (UE) may identify a random access message of a random access procedure. The random access message may include a random access preamble and a random access payload. The UE may aggregate multiple PUSCH resource units of a set of PUSCH resource units associated with one or more PUSCH occasions (POs) based on one or more of a payload size of the random access payload or a modulation and coding scheme associated with the random access payload. As a result, the UE may transmit the random access payload of the random access message on a PUSCH using time and frequency resources of the aggregated multiple PUSCH resource units over the one or more POs.
