The present disclosure relates to procedures for random access channel (RACH) type selection and random access response (RAR) monitoring. Specifically, the present disclosure may configure a user equipment (UE) and network entity to perform RACH type selections, determine mapping ratios, perform mapping procedures for orphan PRACH resources, monitor one or multiple RAR messages within an extended RAR window, and facilitate RAR type differentiation.

Techniques for user equipment (UE) procedures for random access channel (RACH) type selection and random access response (RAR) monitoring in a wireless communication system

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an uplink cancellation indication that identifies one or more first time-domain resources during which the UE is to refrain from transmitting at least a portion of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission scheduled to be transmitted during the one or more first time-domain resources. The UE may identify one or more second time-domain resources during which the UE is to transmit the at least the portion of the PUSCH transmission or another portion of the PUSCH transmission. The UE may transmit, based at least in part on receiving the uplink cancellation indication, the at least the portion of the PUSCH transmission or the other portion of the PUSCH transmission during the one or more second time-domain resources. In an aspect, a positioning entity receives a report indicating an operation mode of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) associated with at least one base station, receives a transmission-to-reception (Tx-Rx) time difference measurement for a network node involved in a round-trip-time (RTT) positioning session with a user equipment (UE), determines a reception-to-transmission (Rx-Tx) time difference measurement for the UE, the Rx-Tx time difference measurement representing a difference between a reception time at the UE of a downlink positioning reference signal from the RIS and a transmission time from the UE of an uplink positioning reference signal towards the RIS, and calculates a distance between the UE and the RIS based, at least in part, on the Tx-Rx time difference measurement and the Rx-Tx time difference measurement.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration signal configuring a set of random access opportunities over which to transmit a preamble associated with a random access procedure, each random access opportunity associated with a set of one or more uplink data opportunities. The UE may select a random access opportunity from the set of configured random access opportunities for transmitting the preamble based at least in part on the repetition parameter. An apparatus is configured to operate on an active DL BWP in a source node, where the active DL BWP is not a default DL BWP associated with the UE, and start a BWP inactivity timer at the UE that triggers a BWP switch from an active DL BWP to the default DL BWP after the BWP inactivity timer expires at a first expiration time. The apparatus is also configured to report a measurement of at least one of the source node or a target node, and start a mobility reception timer based on a condition associated with at least one of the measurement of the source node being below a first signal quality threshold or the measurement of the target node being above a second signal quality threshold.

Mobility enhancements and power saving for user equipment communication

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a transmission gap adjustment (TGA) for a first message (msgA) of a 2 step random access channel (RACH) procedure based on measurement of a reference signal transmitted by a base station as well as the radio resource configuration (RRC) configurations for msgA. In other aspects, a base station transmits a system information block (SIB) or RRC signaling that indicates at least one possible configuration of the TGA, and UEs determine the TGA depending on RRC state. Connected mode UEs having a timing alignment (TA) timer running may determine the TGA based on a previous TA. UEs in other RRC modes determine the TGA based on the possible configuration transmitted in the SIB or RRC signaling. Advantageously, 2 step RACH UEs are able to communicate with the base station without the closed loop TA information provided by a 4 step RACH.

A network entity configures a synchronization signal block (SSB) using SSB resources that convey a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) within an SSB resource area of a resource grid bounded in time by a first configured integer number of time units and bounded in frequency by a second configured integer number of physical channels. A product of the first configured integer number and the second configured integer number is a predetermined constant value, each symbol of the SSB has an equal number of resource elements (REs), and all REs in the each symbol of the SSB, except REs within a frequency guard band between any two of the PSS, the SSS, and the PBCH in the each symbol of the SSB, have non-zero values. A user equipment receives the SSB in the SSB resources as a beamformed SSB.

Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently transmitting data and control information in a first RACH message to a base station as part of a two-step RACH procedure. In particular, rather than or in addition to transmitting data and control information in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) in the first RACH message, a user equipment (UE) may transmit the data and control information along with a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion in the first RACH message (e.g., when the number of bytes of data or control information to be transmitted is low). Using these techniques, in some instances, the UE may transmit the data and control information in a first RACH message without transmitting the PUSCH, and the overhead associated with transmitting the PUSCH may be eliminated.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration for a control resource set (CORESET) that indicates a precoder granularity unit over which a same precoding is used for resources of the CORESET.
