An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a base and a tongue, an upper and lower rows of contacts mounted in the insulative housing and exposed upon the tongue and a pair of grounding pieces separated from each other and retained in the insulative housing between the two rows of contacts. Each grounding piece includes a securing portion disposed in the mating tongue and defines an abutment exposed upon corresponding side face of the mating tongue. The pair of grounding pieces are far away from corresponding power contacts along the transverse direction thereby resulting that the grounding pieces are wholly offset from the power contacts in the vertical direction so as to avoid the power contacts from electrical sparkle.

Electrical connector having separate grounding pieces

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, upper and lower contacts disposed in the housing, a metallic shielding plate, and a metallic shield enclosing the housing. The insulative housing includes a first insulator with a first mating tongue thereof, and a second insulator with a second mating tongue thereof wherein the shielding plate is sandwiched between the first insulator and the second insulator. The shielding plate forms a cutout with side edges in two opposite lateral sides. The second insulator forms a pair of pressing parts extending toward the shielding plate with a hook at the end. When the shielding plate is assembled to the second insulator, the hook engages the side edge of the cutout so as to secure the shielding plate to the second insulator in the vertical direction.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a number of terminals carried by the insulative housing, a metallic shielding plate retained in the insulative housing, and a shielding shell attached to the insulative housing. Each receiving slot is located between every two neighboring soldering portions to receive soldering material.

The first housing defines a first stepping portion going through an opening on the plate and pressing against the second housing.

The insulative housing defines a number of contact-receiving grooves and a number of through holes connecting with adjacent contact-receiving grooves. The contacts include a number of first contacts having connecting sections, at least one connecting section of the first contacts has a first bending section bent along a direction away from the contiguous first contact to form an enlarged gap for increasing a distance between the adjacent first contacts. An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a tongue portion, a number of terminals having a number of first contacts and second contacts, and a shielding shell attached to the housing. The tongue portion defines a first surface and a second surface. Each second contact has a second contacting portion exposed from the second surface, a second soldering portion, and a second connecting portion. An electrical connector includes a housing defining a base portion and a tongue portion, two rows of terminals and a shielding shell. The tongue portion defines a thickened step at a root to the base portion, the base portion defines a front and a rear side, and an upper and a lower retaining slots. The shell is retained on the base portion and surrounding the tongue portion so as to define a mating cavity between the shell and the tongue portion. The shell defines an upper and a lower-front stopping portions inwardly received in corresponding retaining slots to prevent a forward movement of the housing. The upper and lower front stopping portions extend forwardly into the mating cavity across the front side of the base portion so as to prevent a mating connector from damaging the housing during the mating connector is inserted into the mating cavity.
