A light guide plate having a V-cut structure and a backlight module are disclosed. The light guide plate comprises straight-striped V-cut structure sets and a base plate having a light-entering side. The straight-striped V-cut structure sets are formed on a surface of the base plate adjacent to the light-entering side, wherein each straight-striped V-cut structure set is composed of at least one V-cut element, each V-cut element having a first base angle and a second base angle formed between its respective two inclined surfaces and a horizontal surface of the base plate. The first base angle is located closer to the light-entering side than the second base angle is, and is smaller than or equal to the second base angle. The straight-striped V-cut structure sets have a plurality of second average angle values which are gradually decreased from the light-entering side to a central position of the base plate.

Light guide plate and backlight module having V-cut structure

A light guide plate includes an incident face, a bottom surface, a main reflective structure and an auxiliary reflective structure. The bottom surface is connected to the incident face. The main reflective structure is disposed on the bottom surface and has a first and a second inclined surface. The auxiliary reflective structure is disposed on the bottom surface and has a third and a fourth inclined surface. The auxiliary reflective structure and the main reflective structure have an interval therebetween, in which the interval ranges between 0.2 micrometer and 0.5 micrometer, and a bottom width of the auxiliary reflective structure on the bottom surface is smaller than a bottom width of the main reflective structure on the bottom surface. A liquid crystal display is also disclosed herein.

LCD and light guide plate thereof

A light guide plate includes a main body, a main reflective structure and an auxiliary reflective structure. The main reflective structure has a first included angle and a second included angle with respect to a bottom surface of the main body. The auxiliary reflective structure is adjacent to the main reflective structure and has a third included angle and a fourth included angle with respect to the bottom surface. A height difference between the main reflective structure and the auxiliary reflective structure ranges between 1.5 micrometer and 5 micrometer, and a bottom width of the auxiliary reflective structure on the bottom surface is smaller than a bottom width of the main reflective structure on the bottom surface. A liquid crystal display is also disclosed herein.

A light guiding structure of a light guide plate is provided. The light guiding structure comprises a plurality of protrusion ridge portions extending along a longitudinal direction. The height or the vertex angle of each protrusion ridge portion periodically or randomly varies along the longitudinal direction.

Light guiding structure of a light guide plate

A light guide plate including a body and a plurality of prism microstructures is provided. The body has a bottom surface, a light emitting surface opposite to the bottom surface, and a plurality of side surfaces. The light emitting surface has a central area and at least one peripheral area outside the central area. The prism microstructures are disposed on the light emitting surface and the bottom surface. The prism microstructure disposed on the light emitting surface includes a plurality of first prism microstructures in the central area and a plurality of second prism microstructures in the peripheral area. A top angle &#x3b8;of the second prism microstructure is greater than a top angle &#x3b8;of the first prism microstructure. A backlight module including the above-mentioned light guide plate is also provided.

A light guide plate structure, for use with a back light module of a liquid crystal display, has a top surface, a bottom surface, a first end portion, a second end portion which is opposite the first end portion, and a plurality of substantially paralleled V-shape grooves formed on the bottom surface and extending from the first end portion to the second end portion. Each of said V-shape grooves comprises a top angle with a continuous variation from the first end portion to the second end portion. The present invention gets rid of the dark areas of an LCD that appear adjacent to one of the end portions in conventional models, thus enhancing the uniformity in its brightness levels.

A backlight module and an illumination device thereof. The illumination device of the backlight module comprises a light source and a lens, disposed over the light source with a predetermined gap therebetween. The lens comprises a bottom surface as an incident surface, a pair of upper refracting surfaces, and a pair of lateral refracting surfaces. The upper refracting surfaces form an included angle substantially in a range of about 80&#xb0; to about 120&#xb0;.

Backlight module and illumination device thereof

A diffuser used in a backlight module including a plurality of light sources is disclosed. The diffuser according to the present invention makes a uniform light output. The diffuser includes a transparent substrate and a plurality of optical structures. The transparent substrate has an entrance surface and an exit surface. The plurality of optical structures is disposed on the exit surface, each optical structure is dented from the exit surface to the interior of the transparent substrate and forms a refractive convex within the transparent substrate, and each refractive convex corresponds to one of the plurality of the light sources. The maximum value of the included angle between the tangent to the refractive convex edge and the normal to the exit surface is smaller than 30 degrees, such that an incident light ray from the light sources refracts and deviates from the normal to the refractive convex through the refractive convex.

Diffuser having optical structures

A light spreading device and a backlight module utilizing the same. The backlight module includes a light guide, a plurality of point lights, and a plurality of light spreading devices. The light guide includes an entrance surface. The point lights are disposed near the entrance surface. Each light spreading device, corresponding to one of the point lights, is disposed between the light guide and the corresponding point light.
