A non-aqueous secondary battery contains a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator and a non-aqueous electrolytic solution. The positive electrode contains a layered structure lithium-containing compound oxide, or a spinel lithium-containing compound oxide containing manganese as an active material. The non-aqueous electrolytic solution contains at least one additive selected from a sulfonic acid anhydride, a sulfonate ester derivative, a cyclic sulfate derivative and a cyclic sulfonate ester derivative, and a vinylene carbonate or a derivative of the vinylene carbonate.

An electrolyte includes a mixture of polymerizable compounds, or a polymer, in which the mixture includes a polymerizable compound having an aromatic functional group and a polymerizable functional group, and a polymerizable compound having a phosphorus-containing functional group that contains phosphorus, and having a polymerizable functional group, and in which the polymer has residues of each of the phosphorus-containing functional group, the aromatic functional group and the polymerizable functional group.

Lithium secondary battery

A nonaqueous electrolytic solution which may suppress the overcharge of a battery and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the solution are provided. The overcharge of the battery is suppressed by undergoing the electrolytic polymerization in the solution when the battery is overcharged, and simultaneously more effectively suppressed by increasing the internal resistance of the battery. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution comprises a polymer which undergoes the electrolytic polymerization in the range of 4.3V or more to 5.5V or less at the lithium metal standard voltage, having a repeating unit represented by the formula (1), an electrolytic salt and a nonaqueous solvent.

An overcharge inhibitor is provided which increases an internal resistance of a battery, being electropolymerized by reaction with a positive electrode at a high potential in overcharging. The overcharge inhibitor is produced by using a polymer containing a polymerizable monomer as a repeating unit. The polymerizable monomer has a functional group that is electropolymerized at a potential of 4.3 to 5.5 V based on a lithium metal reference.

By eliminating a part of sulfur atoms of the polysulfide segment of the formula: &mdash;S &mdash; (m&gE;3) of an organic sulfur compound, a carbon polysulfide is synthesized, which comprises carbon and sulfur as constitutive elements and contains at least 67 wt. % of sulfur and at least 95 wt. % of carbon and sulfur in total, and which has a disulfide linkage formed by most of the sulfur atoms in the molecule and also has a highly uniform structure. A nonaqueous electrolytic battery which has a high capacity and shows a small decrease in capacity in association with cyclic charge and discharge is provided using this carbon polysulfide as an active material for the positive electrode.

A polymer electrolyte comprising an electrolyte salt, a non-aqueous solvent and a polymer which comprises repeating units of the formulas: &mdash;(R &mdash;O) &mdash;, and &mdash;&lsqb;CH (R )&mdash;CH &mdash;O&rsqb; &mdash; in which n&gE;0 and m&gE;0 provided that n&plus;m&gE;5, R is a C -C alkyl group, and R is a C -C alkyl group or a benzyl group, and a urea structure.
